STAR WARS REBELS Introduces Hera As Final Main Character

The last main character for Star Wars Rebels has been introduced, and it’s a Twi’lek named Hera. As the group’s pilot, Hera flies The Ghost, the ship that the other protagonists fly around through the galaxy in. Voiced by Vanessa Marshall (Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Green Lantern: The Animated Series), Hera is described by executive producer Dave Filoni as the connective tissue of this group of rebels.

She is a very strong-minded character, kind of the heart of the group, keeps everyone together when they would otherwise fall apart.

A no-nonsense and pratical pilot, Hera wears utilitarian clothing and isn’t interested in looking glamorous. However, when fighting the Empire, looks aren’t as important as doing your job well, and Hera is able to do that in abundance.

“Whenever someone makes something look easy, it’s enjoyable to watch, and I think she really makes flying The Ghost look easy,” Joel Aron, CG supervisor-lighting & VFX, said.

As for Marshall, she looks forward to each new story development that comes along.

Every time we get a script I’m breathless with anticipation because I want to see where we’re going too.

Star Wars Rebels is set to take place between Episodes III and IV as “the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.” Hera rounds out the cast of characters that include Chopper, Kanan, Ezra, Zeb, Sabine and the Inquisitor. The show is scheduled to debut on Disney Channel in Fall 2014 as a one-hour TV movie before moving to Disney XD as a series.

I’m glad we have another alien added to the cast. As big as the Star Wars universe is, there seems to be a dominance of humans about (is the Emperor involved with that?), so the more aliens we get to see the better. As for piloting, I doubt she’ll be able to measure up to the likes of Han or Anakin, but I’m sure she’ll be able get her friends away whenever the Empire is on their tail.

Well, we finally have all the major characters for Star Wars Rebels. What do you think of the cast? Let us know in the comments below.
