Following the release of the first clip and promo banner from the CW’s new DC Comics TV series Arrow yesterday, the network have released the first trailer with tons of new footage, including some of Oliver Queen marooned on an island. It gives off a strong Batman Begins-vibe, and I’m not sure whether that’s a good or bad thing. It looks decent, and I’ll definately be checking it out when it hits the small screen. But because it seems so much like Batman, why the hell don’t DC just release a Batman TV show! It would make a lot more sense and they could avoid pumping out more Batman reboots.
It’s been seven years since the original Sin City hit theaters and wowed comic fans and film-goers alike! For all of us that have been waiting patiently… ok maybe not so patiently, there’s now a firm release date for the forthcoming sequel. When can we expect the sequel to Sin City, you ask? October 4th, 2013, that’s when! The sequel will be co-directed once again by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, with the production looking to start this summer in Austin, Texas. According to the Hollywoood Reporter: Much of the cast from the first movie is expected to return, including Mickey Rourke, whose character Marv was killed in the 2005 movie. A hunt is on for actors to fill in the new roles. The movie will also retain it’s black and white style in the vein of the comics, but it’s going to be shot in 3D. They can shoot it on a cellphone camera for all I care, just bring on the sequel! It’s now been confirmed that Arrow has been picked up by the CW and will premiere this Fall on Wednesday nights, and to celebrate they’ve released the first official banner giving us a new look at the costume (no domino mask!) and a minute and a half of footage.
Ah, Image. You never cease to impress with your unique stories. Now we have yet another new mini-series from the company debuting in July. The full press release as follows. THE COLOSSALS ARISE IN DEBRIS New dystopian mini-series from Image Comics in July The future looks bleak for humankind in DEBRIS, the new Image Comics/Shadowline mini-series by the co-creators of the critically acclaimed GREEN WAKE, Kurtis J. Wiebe (PETER PANZERFAUST, GRIM LEAPER) and Riley Rossmo (REBEL BLOOD, COWBOY NINJA VIKING). Earth itself, covered with the detritus of civilization, has risen up against humans, as ancient spirits called the Colossals take physical forms constructed from the debris to wage war against the destructive species. In the midst of this chaos, a warrior woman named Maya becomes the champion of humankind. She sets out to find the world’s last source of pure water, combatting Colossals along the way as she fights to save her fellow humans. “I’m very fond of Scandinavian and European folklore, so I injected a lot of those concepts into the monsters that will appear throughout the series,” Wiebe told Comic Book Resources in an April 25th interview. “It’s also very influenced by Native American (Canadian) mythology and even a touch of Mayan for some of the creatures. I like the idea that all these ancient monsters were once part of our world and have returned to end us when we are at our weakest.” With a look inspired by video games like Final Fantasy, DEBRIS boasts extraordinary creature design by Rossmo and vivid colors by Owen Gieni (AVENGELYNE) that set the comic apart from many other post-apocalyptic visions of Earth. In an April 27th interview at IGN about the influence of the revolutionary video game series, Wiebe noted that DEBRIS shares the subject of “a world-changing battle against impossible odds, which is a constant theme throughout Final Fantasy.” The IGN feature also included several FF-inspired teasers, showing Maya in battles against various Colossals. In May, Wiebe also talked about the hotly-anticipated series at iFanboy, where a six-page preview of DEBRIS #1 was posted. DEBRIS is a monthly four-issue miniseries published under Image Comics’ Shadowline imprint. The first issue will be in stores on July 25. It is available for pre-order now from the May issue of PREVIEWS with the code MAY120516. Now check out artwork.

Today saw the release of the first poster released for the latest James Bond outing, Skyfall. The poster shows Daniel Craig‘s Bond walking through a tunnel which is made to strongly resemble the classic James Bond gunbarrel sequence, and it looks bloody marvelous! Maybe it could have been something more original, but you know what we don’t care! It reeks of classic bond and we love it for that reason. 007.com is also reporting that the first trailer for Bond’s 23rd outing will be released on Monday 21st May at 8.30am (British standard time) so keep your eyes peeled to UTF. The film is due for release on October 26th, meaning it is only 161 days away! (YES, WE ARE COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS!)

Can you remember the sweet, honey melon scent of the 90′s? You know, a whole decade before the birth of Axe deodorant and club anthem rap? Between pizza flavored Lunchables and Nick at Night marathons of I Love Lucy (not to mention Taxi and Welcome Back Kotter), I can only look back with rose tinted contact lenses and say…. THOSE WERE THE DAYS! Well, one of the biggest reasons the 90′s ‘rocked so hard’ was the insanely great X-Men run created by Chris Claremont and artist Jim Lee. Since then, the Lee-meister has jumped on the DC bandwagon (after a few years creating his own brands like Image and WildStorm) and he’s now one of the chief executives guiding the company. BUT, in recent months, especially in the wake of the New 52, his penciling skills have deteriorated into mechanical, passionless sketches, meant for fodder in the great comic war between the Big Two. So, I’ve been wondering… What the hell happened to Lee’s art? In an attempt to answer this question, I solicited the help of The Chosen One (or, at least that’s what his rabid internet fans call him). You might know him better as one of our managing editors Dane Ingham. Either way, here’s what he had to say… Jim Lee doesn’t suck, he just stopped practicing to be the best like he was back in the day. He got lazy and stopped improving. Meanwhile, all these new dudes who grew up worshiping Jim Lee passed his ass up. Of course, I don’t have any facts to back it up… this is just my half baked theory. I actually agree with that statement. What do you guys think? Has Lee rested on his laurels?

Sherlock Holmes is a hot commodity at the moment. Between his silver screen adventures under the direction of Guy Ritchie and the BBC’s television show Sherlock led by Benedict Cumberbatch (which also features a very Bilbo Baggins-esque Martin Freeman as Watson), the much beloved inspector is nearly everywhere, and as a viewer, it’s almost exhausting. Well, the good ol’ USA has decided to cast the die of fate with CBS’s modern take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle hero in a series called Elementary. Starring Johnny Lee Miller as the eccentric sleuth and Lucy Liu in the role of a gender bending Watson, the show has stirred up quite a fuss. Besides being a blatant attempt to cash in on the success of that other chrono-mashing Holmes story (you know… that BBC show I just mentioned), Elementary seems like it will tip the fickle scales of viewer enthusiasm towards indifference. Check out the preview below and you can decide for yourself. Rip off? Or a welcome addition to your DVR? SOURCE: CBM

“Night of the Owls” falls on Birds of Prey in issue 9! The team faces off against a Talon. Hoo will win? I’m sorry. I can’t stop thinking of bird puns. But in all the seriousness I can currently summon, issue 9 is pretty sweet. While the ongoing storyline has been pretty good, taking a break to write a “Night of the Owls” tie-in appears to be just what Duane Swierczynski needed. Here’s the official description from DC (which is really just bullet points): • “NIGHT OF THE OWLS” continues here! • BLACK CANARY, BATGIRL, KATANA and POISON IVY risk their lives in Gotham City to battle THE TALON and The Court of Owls! • A secret is revealed about Black Canary’s husband…Kurt Lance?! What surprised me the most about this issue was how much fun it was. Starling has been one of the more exciting characters to come out of the New 52, and here Swierczynski lets her cut loose with the jokes. He almost overdoes it: at one point she cracks an ice joke, a la Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze. Swierczynski also sets himself apart from the other NotO tie-ins by avoiding a replay of Alfred’s call for help and by ignoring any mention of the Talon’s intended victim. It’s a smart move, as I’m sure everyone reading will be familiar with the situation in Gotham by now. Also exciting is the debut of artist Travel Foreman on the book. Foreman has been killing the art (and a lot of people) in Animal Man for a while now, and I was eagerly anticipating his work on BoP. It’s a mixed bag, as Foreman’s work remains top-notch, but it’s not quite as suited to the tone as I had hoped. Foreman tends to draw his characters with a bit of distortion, which emphasizes their humanity by distinguishing them from the over-muscled Adonises we typically see in superhero comics. It worked great in Animal Man, where Buddy’s flaws are so crucial to the story, but in Birds, I WANT the women to be perfect. It’s part of the appeal of the book that it focuses on an all-female team. (That’s not the only reason I read it, and Gail Simone would probably kill me for saying that, but I’m positive DC had it in mind when they greenlit the original series back in 1999). But I digress… Birds of Prey #9, isn’t the best “Night of the Owls” tie-in I’ve read, but it does a great job of setting itself apart from the pack, and it IS the best in terms of pure fun.
Wow. Locke & Key may not be the most regular book on the shelf, but when it delivers, it packs a punch. Clockworks has been the most revealing of the five L&K minis and its final issue should answer enough of your questions to keep you at least partially satisfied until this fall. Here’s the official description from IDW: As a storm thunders up the coast to Lovecraft, Massachusetts, the Keepers of the Keys face Dodge a final time, under three hundred feet of stone, in the darkness before the Black Door. Here, water will mix with blood and The Drowning Cave will become a colossal grave, in the final issue of the CLOCKWORKS storyline. One of my favorite themes Stephen King consistently employs in his work is the sense of inevitability. He’s not afraid to tell you early on how things will turn out; then you get to read along, knowing who’s going to die, but powerless to stop it. In Clockworks, Joe Hill borrowed his father’s technique to devastating effect. We’ve known the final fates of Rendell Locke and his friends for a while now, but Hill has spent several issues making us care about them. Here, now, in issue 6, he rips them all to shreds. If there’s one problem with Hill’s writing in this issue, it’s that too much happens. Developments come so quickly that the reader often has to infer what happens between panels. It’s not bad enough to make the book unreadable, but it definitely pulled me out of the story several times. Gabriel Rodriguez is also in top form. The realism he brings to such a fantastical series is always amazing. His facial work seems even more accomplished than usual this issue, something I would have thought was impossible. It’s also obvious that he had a lot of fun drawing this issue, with the abundance of thoughts and memories from the Head Key and shadows from the crown. Now, I saved the best news for last: the ads at the back of the book reveal two new Locke & Key projects coming out later this year. Locke & Key: Grindhouse is scheduled for this August and Locke & Key: Omega is due sometime in the fall. According to IDW’s solicits, Omega is the final L&K storyline, which makes me think Grindhouse is a one-shot. Guess we’ll find out in the coming months. In the meantime, I’m gonna read Clockworks #6 again. Review: 4.5/5

Hey guys welcome to the inaugural edition of my Comic Reviews column! First off, I’m Harrison, it’s nice to meet ya! This week I covered a total of seven comics for Unleash The Fanboy.com and you’ll find links to five of the seven here, if you want to see my remaining two please check out the Image Comics Reviews Column 5/16. So… here we go! Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth #1 What we have here is a tie-in issue that connects to the current story arc (of the same name) inAmazing Spider-Man. We see the global stakes very clearly as heroes put their lives on the line trying to stop the sinister plans of Doctor Octopus. For $3.99 we have an issue that contains two short stories that finally succeeds in giving Ends of the Earth that global feel the main story arc had been missing but fails to give readers a solid reason to pick this issue up. For the full review, click here. 2.5/5 Avengers vs X-Men #4 As we’ve seen in the last decade some events are compelling (Civil War) while others are beyond disappointing (Fear Itself), thankfully Avengers vs X-Men is at least engaging. It’s not a perfect story but the narrative tissue seems to be somewhat thought out as the book feels full of natural reactions with each issue building towards the story’s next logical step. For the full review, click here. 3.5/5 AVX: Vs #2 If you’re not reading Avengers vs X-Men then this comic will make little to no sense and if you are it’s still an ultimately unnecessary read either way. It’s a solid and fun effort from the creative team and for that reason alone I find myself recommending the issue only if you have four extra dollars and some time to waste. For the full review, click here. 3.0/5 Venom #18 What Rick Remender has done with Venom has been nothing short of phenomenal, and this issue is just more of the same. Chaos ensues on almost every page as the action and narrative keep picking up speed all the way to the cliffhanger finish that will leave any fan eager for the next installment. Working with his future replacement Cullen Bunn we get an issue that feels like the culmination of the 17 issues that preceded it and a story arc that feels like a good swan song for a stellar run. For the full review, click here. 4.5/5 Wonder Woman #9 If you had told me when the new 52 launched that of the titles I would try (and believe me, I tried quite a few of ‘em) that Wonder Woman would be my favorite, I would have laughed at you. Nope I would have called you an idiot, scolded you, then I would have shook my head at you as I walked away. Well fast forward nine months and yes,Wonder Woman is my favorite comic book from the new 52.
Oh Wonder Woman, what a wondrous comic book you have… The official description from DC: WONDER WOMAN continues to battle through HADES in hopes of rescuing the only friend she has left. What is APOLLO trying to convince ARES of? Whatever it is, you can bet it’s bad news for Wonder Woman! If you had told me when the new 52 launched that of the titles I would try (and believe me, I tried quite a few of ‘em) that Wonder Woman would be my favorite, I would have laughed at you. Nope I would have called you an idiot, scolded you, then I would have shook my head at you as I walked away. Well fast forward nine months and yes, Wonder Woman is my favorite comic book from the new 52. The secret behind it is easy, Brian Azzarello took a character that (in my opinion) needed an update, he reworked her origin and let everything pour out from there. He gave the world Hercules: The Legendary Journeys mixed with God of War but starring Wonder Woman. The comic may take place in the modern DCU but it ignores all of that and instead focuses on the mythological drama of the Gods and Goddesses. This latest story arc centers on Hades and his marriage to… Wonder Woman! Yep, he shot Wonder Woman with pistols from Eros and now they’re getting married. Don’t you just hate when that happens? Most renderers will spend the issue wondering if she is or isn’t under love’s powerful spell. And if she’s not what is she up to. The other item that makes this comic usually a must read is the art and normally Cliff Chiang does it, and he does it remarkably well. But sadly this issue has a stand in artist and it’s no gripe to Tony Akins but he’s no Cliff Chiang. His characters are fine and they fit the established style well enough but the expected delicate lines and attention to detail while employing an almost minimalist sensibility is just not there. So the art is good this issue but not great. This issue overall was a good read and despite the art successfully furthers the argument that Wonder Woman is a top notch title. But the art does affect the score and it lowers it a bit. 4.0/5

Grab your swords, your armor, and arm yourselves with the most powerful abilities imaginable. Evil is coming and it’s time to return to Sanctuary and fight the remaining evils of hell. That’s right gamers, Diablo 3 is back to kick ass and take some names. So install, log in, and begin the slaughter of evil. Overview This sojourn into the world of Sanctuary offers player much more than a simple continuation of story. For those that ordered the Collector’s Edition, extra goodies as well such as in game banners and items for Blizzard’s other games (Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft) Diablo 3 offers a fresh take on game play, an engaging story, and amazing visuals. In addition to adding five distinct new classes (Barbarian, Witch Doctor, Monk, Demon Hunter, and Mage), Blizzard adds several unique touches to enhance the overall game experience. Several changes to basic game play mechanics such as revamping hotkeys helps add variety to playing styles and solves some of the problems from the first two games. The addition of achievements, something Blizzard now makes standard with every game, gives players a little challenge and unlocking special items such as banner design options. Blizzard’s growth in terms of storytelling and delivery also shines in this feature with strong voice acting and plot structure. That being said, some may find the time spent crawling dungeons and landscapes a bit too much of a grind. Beyond that, the game itself possesses extremely strong and stunning visuals. Game play The first impression Diablo 3 gives a gamer happens just after logging in. Within a minute, you’re already hacking and slashing through the undead. Something that Diablo veterans will notice is the return of the two-button attack on the mouse, with each mouse button tied to an attack. However, Blizzard completely changes it up by assigning each button a specific type of attack. Gone are the days of trying to manage between assigning what types of attacks map to what button. Another addition to the user interface is a revamp of the game’s hotkeys. Blizzard simplifies it by adding special ability categories to buttons 1-4. All of these abilities are quickly modified on the skills tab and gives game play a very tailored feel as gamers get variety in options within the first few levels of character development. Combat, an extremely important part of the Diablo experience, not only improves from previous installments; it becomes downright fun. Anyone playing a Demon Hunter may find it hard to contain a squeal of glee when unleashing Rapid Fire on an onslaught of mobs. The companion/follower enhancement also adds a neat flavor to play; Veterans may remember this from Diablo 2 with some new perks. Players may also tailor their companions by selecting their special abilities and equipping them with weapons and trinkets. This further allows players to create a very tailored game play experience that Blizzard not only designed to, but also encourages. Story Blizzard’s promise of quality to gamers...

Kill ‘em all! Venom tried to kill Crime-Master and Jack O’Lantern to protect his loved ones… but he failed! Now it’s time for the chaos that follows! The official description from Marvel: Venom faces a gauntlet of doom as the Crime-Master unites Jack O’Lantern, The Human Fly, Toxin and more to destroy Flash Thompson! The Crime-Master’s plan is so diabolical, so vile, that it forces Eddie Brock to become a symbiote’s host once more – and takes the war to Flash Thompson’s Family, Betty Brant and even Peter Parker! The villain’s know that Flash Thompson is Venom. So Flash decided to clean up that mess by not acting like the Avenger he supposedly is, and now he’s dealing with the results of those bad choices. It’s time for Venom to prove his worth as he frantically tries to play hero! Flash must stop the bad guys, protect the innocent civilians and not kill the criminals in front of them. On top of all that he also has to try and save his loved ones. What Rick Remender has done with Venom has been nothing short of phenomenal, and this issue is just more of the same. The art in this issue is smooth and clean. Wether it’s Toxin attacking or Venom free falling, Lan Medina makes the world look serene and chaotic at the same time. The characters are detailed, the world looks great and the action is top notch. This latest issue is the whole package, a great story and strong characters all built from 17 issues of expert story telling. It’s been fun chaos and I can’t wait to see where Flash Thompson goes from here. 4.5/5

Doc Ock is holding the world ransom, he’s captured the Avengers and turned Spider-Man into a global public enemy. So who’s going to help Spidey save the world? Titanium man, Big Hero Six, Sabra, Union Jack and… Kangaroo? Yep, we’re doomed! The official description from Marvel: Spider-Man isn’t the only hero fighting to free the globe from Doctor Octopus’s treacherous tentacles…what heroes rise to the challenge? What we have here is a tie-in issue that connects to the current story arc (of the same name) in Amazing Spider-Man. In the first part Rob Williams does a great job giving life to these characters as he makes you aware of the stakes and lets you see the ultimate cost of leadership. In the second part Brian Clevinger stumbles, giving readers an overburdened script that does nothing to serve the overall plot but instead feels like an excuse to introduce all the members of Big Hero Six and their rogue’s gallery. The art in this issue is more than up to the task of carrying this issue as Thony Silas draws all the characters rather well. The art is so good that it makes even the overly wordy second half still look nice. The action is there, the emotion behind these scenes is clear and the world looks great even under the threat of Doctor Octopus. The ultimate question here is if this issue is worth picking up or not. If you’re a diehard Spidey fan than the question is a no brainer, but this issue is by no means required reading. For the most part it’s engaging but because of the lackluster second half this comic is very hard to recommend. 2.5/5

Adding to the already brilliant cast list for Iron Man 3, Deadline reveals that actor James Badge Dale (24, The Pacific) is in talks to appear in the movie as Eric Savin – better known to comics fans as the cyborg villain Coldblood. If you’re reading this thinking ‘WTF!?’ then you’re not alone. From what we’ve heard of the movie, a cyborg doesn’t fit in with nanotechnology and superhuman viruses at all. Could he possibly be a substitute for Mallen? But then how does Guy Pearce’s character fit in (his character in Extremis appears for literally three panels)? Beats me. Stay tuned to UTF as we bring you the latest casting news from Iron Man III! SOURCE: Deadline

The action in Avengers vs X-Men is so varied and massive that it cannot be contained in the main event series or the X-Men or Avengers titles the story crosses over with! And that ladies and gentlemen is the reasoning behind this tie-in series… So is it worth picking up? Read on. The official description from Marvel: The premier tie-in to AVENGERS vs. X-MEN! SPIDER-MAN vs. COLOSSUS CAPTAIN AMERICA vs. GAMBIT The title of AVX: Vs is an apt one as this comic wastes no time tossing the reader into the thick of the action. We have no real recap page as no time is wasted on needless explanations or exposition. This comic is made for fight fans and on that front it delivers. For an issue that focuses on the action Kieron Gillen still offers enough context and witty banter to make you feel like you read (at the very least) a part of a larger narrative. From Spider-Man to Captain America to Gambit and Colossus the Avengers and X-Men are in good form here. Their dialogue flows well but does little to set up the events contained in Avengers vs X-Men #4. It’s a fun but ultimately pointless issue. The comic is set up in two fight rounds. The first is Captain America vs Gambit and the second is Spider-Man vs Colossus. The first round is drawn by Steve McNiven and is full of brisk and engaging action as Gambit gives his all to try and beat down Captain America. The second round is drawn by Salvador Larroca who seems to be tailor made for his bout as his Spider-Man and Juggernaut (Colossus) look great. You really feel the force of each blow as the two tare up Latveria while trying to destroy each other. If you’re not reading Avengers vs X-Men then this comic will make little to no sense and if you are it’s still an ultimately unnecessary read either way. It’s a solid and fun effort from the creative team and for that reason alone I find myself recommending the issue only if you have four extra dollars and some time to waste. 3.0/5

The Avengers are scattered! The mutants are uniting! The Phoenix force is 10 hours from Earth! The penultimate issue of act one of Avengers vs X-Men is here, so will the Marvel universe ever be the same? Read on to find out. The official description from Marvel: The battle of hero vs. hero rages on! With Wolverine abandoned by the Avengers, where will he stand in the battle for Hope? As we’ve seen in the last decade some events are compelling (Civil War) while others are beyond disappointing (Fear Itself), thankfully Avengers vs X-Men is at least engaging. It’s not a perfect story but the narrative tissue seems to be somewhat thought out as the book feels full of natural reactions with each issue building towards the story’s next logical step. The creative team wasted no time getting the war between the Children of the Atom and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes into full swing and since then AVX has refused to slow down. That changes a bit this issue as Jonathan Hickman wisely slows down the narrative as he picks a few specific characters and focuses in on them. Because of that we get a solid story that ultimately brings the diverging conflicts back together in an opus that feels a bit rushed but is still a fun ride nonetheless. The art in this issue is done by John Romita, Jr. and he does a wonderful job rendering the many characters involved in the conflict. Each panel is drawn with a strong kinetic energy that makes the book feel like the action movie it so yearns to be. The characters presented here are indeed blocky but detailed. You can easily tell who is who whether they’re in the jungles of Wakanda or up in space. With any event series finding a logical way to get everyone in your shared universe involved in a single story while marketing each of these characters must be one of the biggest challenges writers and creators face, and here for the most part it works. Is the issue worth getting? Yes, it’s a fun ride. So will the Marvel universe ever be the same? It’s just too early to tell. 3.5/5

Hmm, am I sensing a pattern here? Previously, Tom Hiddleston revealed that one of the main things he wants to happen in Thor II is see Loki’s redemption play out on screen. Speaking at the red carpet premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman, Chris Hemsworth said that that’s something he would like to see as well. Perhaps they’re both hinting at a plot point for the movie? If Thanos ends up playing a part in the sequel, then could we see Loki teaming up with Thor to stop the Mad Titan? Get More: Movie Trailers, Movies Blog “It’s what I loved about the comics. It was never clean and cut and that’s it,” he said about whether or not Thor and Loki would repair their damaged relationship. “It was always like, Thor would forgive him, they’d be friends, and Loki would betray him again. ‘You idiot, Thor! Again?’ But it was different than your normal good guy, bad guy scenario. They’re brothers, you know? Anyone with siblings understands that. ‘That’s it, I’m never talking to you again… want to play football?’” “He’s got to apologize, doesn’t he?
It is a truth universally acknowledged that the addition of actor Mark Sheppard to any show makes it roughly 87% better.* He is a genre stalwart with an IMDB list as long as my arm, adding that peculiar mix of charm and menace to shows as diverse as Doctor Who, Supernatural, Leverage, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Burn Notice and Medium (to name but a few). So, bearing that in mind, which shows would you LIKE him to bring the Sheppard magic to? Fringe: this is such an obvious choice for Sheppard I had to double check that he hadn’t been in it already, but can’t you just see him as a shadowy force trying to interfere with the fate of the universe(s)? Plus, I think he’d work well with Walter, a cynical counterpoint to his craziness. Downton Abbey: the last series was widely acknowledged to be tepid, so introduce Mark as a cocky American who is mistrusted by the servants, clashes with the household but ultimately wins the respect of the Dowager Countess by giving as good as he gets in the barbed remark stakes. Maggie Smith and Mark Sheppard in the same scene? My TV might explode in joy. Torchwood: an obvious and an easy one, this: he’s already in the Whoniverse, so why not just shunt him into this show? After the flailing mess that was Miracle Day, it could certainly use the boost. Plus, his character Canton Delaware is gay, which would open the door to some high octane flirting between him and Jack (and also give the actor a rare chance to flirt – it’s odd that despite his attractiveness and undeniable charisma, he rarely gets given any sort of romantic role.). As an aside, bring him back to Doctor Who, please? Good Omens: seriously, I won’t stop going on about this till it happens. Having played Crowley so successfully in Supernatural – where he waltzes off with every scene he is in with demonic ease – surely it makes sense to have him play his namesake in an adaptation of the book that, ahem, seems to have inspired a lot of the Supernatural storylines. Make it happen, Gaiman! Homeland: Sheppard’s inscrutability is one of his biggest draws – you are never entirely sure what is going on behind those eyes, so why not put that to use in a show that trades on false perception? He’d be great as a shadowy agent for an undisclosed military organisation. Castle: OK, this thriving police show doesn’t need the help, but having given viewers a fan-pleasing reunion of Adam Baldwin and Nathan Fillion, how about reuniting Badger and Mal one more time? Glee: given this show’s dramatic fall from grace, only a Sheppard infusion can… oh, who am I kidding? Not even Mark Sheppard can save Glee now… *OK, I made that statistic up. But it feels true. I’d love to hear your thoughts – what shows do you think Mark should enliven? And of course I’ll be...

YAY! Not only are we getting a teaser trailer for the long awaited sequel to the cult sensation Anchorman attached to prints of The Dictator, but Paramount have also released the first teaser poster for the movie, seemingly confirming that the title will be Anchorman: The Legend Continues! But first, read a description of the teaser below… “Just got out of a screening of The Dictator. There is an Anchorman 2 teaser attached featuring the Channel 4 news team (minus Veronica) stating how excited they are to return… a concept that Brick seems to have a hard time with. Also, not sure if it was an official title or more of a slogan but the screen title read Anchorman: The Legend Continues followed by ’2013′” If you’re not excited for this movie….. You have no soul. Check out the epic poster below: SOURCE: Collider

And welcome to this week’s addition of the weekly Image Comics Reviews, I’m your host, Daniel Alvarez. We have a bunch of titles for all you readers today, including two new #1s that you seriously need to check out. So I won’t waste anymore of your time, onto the reviews. Dancer #1 When you finish reading a comic like this, you’re left wondering, “Wait, did that just happen?” It’s tough to review an issue like this one, anything can spoil it. All you need to know is that this comic is worth picking up, like now. Image has once again supplied us with a great new #1. For the full review, click here. 5/5 Hardcore #1 Robert Kirkman gets around, the biggest name in Image Comics. The Walking Dead, Invincible, among others. Now he’s here with the start of a new series. Hardcore is a story that is serious, but at the same time, doesn’t have a dark tone. It’s a science fiction thriller similar to films such as Source Code. This new #1 has a very unique premise and is a comic you should be picking up. For the full review, click here. 4.5/5 The Darkness #103 The Darkness #103 is an entertaining but at times messed up issue that is not going to be for every comic reader out there. But nevertheless if you’re willing to take a chance it’s definitely a comic worth picking up. David Hine delivers a a clear narrative that feels more or less like controlled chaos. It’s a roller coaster ride, one full of dismembered body parts, artistic cussing, inspired chuckles as well as dreadful groans. For the full review, click here. 4/5 Danger Club #2 That’s the thing the script accomplishes here, it offers a compelling but nonetheless shallow narrative that still somehow manages to give the comic a true sense of history. This was a fun issue, it’s worth checking out but there are some minor issues that should be addressed as the series moves forward. For the full review, click here. 3.5/5 Saga #3 It may still be early days, but Saga is setting up to be an interesting title. It has a big name or two behind it, sure, but the main appeal is its unique story and universe. Saga #3 is good example of something that doesn’t jump through tired cliché, offering a tight storyline with a unique appeal. For the full review, click here. 4/5 The Manhattan Projects #3 Thus far, The Manhattan Projects‘ biggest problem is in the pacing. The plot moves right along, but most of the characters remain unknowns. This encourages a reader to turn to history itself, which is informative in a general way, but unlikely to increase his understanding of the book. Issue 3 is without a doubt the most impactful so far. I’m just hoping the major events we saw will lead to big revelations very soon. For the full review, click here. 3/5

In a world of heroes… there be no heroes here anymore, just the sidekicks! That’s the premise of Danger Club, a comic that is about the second stringers in a superhero or villain team. The official description from Image: Yoshimi Onomoto returns to her homeland a fugitive as Danger Club leader Kid Vigilante and his arch-nemesis Ladybug confront their pasts in the Cave of Vengeance. Old wounds are opened again, and new mysteries arise as the world faces its imminent doom. The tone and world presented here is bleak, depressing but ultimately intriguing as we get a world where its foundations have been shook to the core because of the loss of their superheroes. The y’re all gone and dead but there’s still a threat that’s coming to Earth. This situation forces characters you would normally ignore to become the heroes they were meant to be. That’s the thing the script accomplishes here, it offers a compelling but nonetheless shallow narrative that still somehow manages to give the comic a true sense of history. Landry Q. Walker borrows concepts and ideas that the average comic book reader is familiar with and just pretends like a decade or two of history has been laid upon those foundations. Without any attempt to really talk about or disclose that history, we’re left with paper thin characters that have moments of depth. The result is a world where the President could be an ex-superhero or Japan could have a police force full of mechs and yet still retain a sense of reality that makes the majority of this outlandish tale if not believable but fun and compelling. The art in this issue is strong, Eric Jones does a wonderful job rendering the world and characters. Everyone of these sidekicks has fluid actions that feel organic and the world (true to the narrative) looks rundown and bleak. Though there are low moments where faces when unmasked look pretty terrible, it’s a minor gripe but when an emotional scene happens and the art is not up to the task it deflates any resonance contained therein. Overall this was a fun issue, that’s worth checking out but there are some minor issues that should be addressed as the series moves forward. 3.5/5

The alternate history lesson that is The Manhattan Projects continues with issue 3, “The Bomb,” which focuses on the the construction of the explosive in question, as well as the fallout of Roosevelt’s death and Truman’s inauguration. Here’s the official description from Image: The Death of FDR leaves the Manhattan Projects in chaos as questions of leadership arise. The world’s first Artificial Intelligence is created 40 years ahead of schedule. And whatever happened to the THIRD atomic bomb developed by Oppenheimer and his unparalleled Science Team? Thus far, The Manhattan Projects‘ biggest problem is in the pacing. The plot moves right along, but most of the characters remain unknowns. This encourages a reader to turn to history itself, which is informative in a general way, but unlikely to increase his understanding of the book. While Hickman is a great writer, and Nick Pitarra’s art does a great job of conveying the quirky-yet-disturbing vibe that this book puts off, I’m consistently reminded of Grant Morrison’s different collaborations with Frank Quitely. Projects isn’t nearly as inscrutable as Morrison’s work tends to be, but it definitely leans in that direction. Pitarra’s somewhat unsteady lines lend the same flawed humanity to the genius scientists that Quitely reserves for superhumans. That flawed humanity is even more obvious in Hickman’s writing, where almost every character is painted as either arrogant, disturbed, a flake, or overly self-righteous. The characters’ collective failure to be likable is perhaps the largest weakness of an otherwise intriguing title. Issue 3 is without a doubt the most impactful so far. I’m just hoping the major events we saw will lead to big revelations very soon. 3/5

Welcome to The Darkness, a comic book series starring at times good but ultimately bad-boy Jackie Estacado. Jackie is a mobster. He once was a hitman but now he’s the boss of his own crime family. Oh, and he also wields an ancient sentient artifact called “The Darkness” which gives him the power to create anything he wants as long as there’s no light in the room. With me so far? Good. The official description from Image: “THE CRACK IN EVERYTHING,” Part Three At home, Jackie remains blissfully unaware of the rot growing under the surface of his perfect family life. But at the office, he’s painfully aware that the cold war brewing between him and the Bulgarian mafiya is about to boil over. Hot on the heels of THE DARKNESS II video game release, Top Cow proudly welcomes the new creative team of DAVID HINE (THE DARKNESS: FOUR HORSEMEN, THE BULLETPROOF COFFIN) and JEREMY HAUN (ARTIFACTS, BATTLE HYMN, Detective Comics)! In the last few months or so the Top Cow Universe was destroyed and Jackie Estacado used his powers to make a new one. In this new world he gave himself everything he ever wanted. He has a family, a successful enterprise and he was even able to separate himself from the Darkness. But now things are starting to slowly slip away. It’s not easy growing to like a man who murders for money but it’s been done well enough here that seeing things fall apart with the help of some thick but potent dialogue is painful to read. David Hine delivers a a clear narrative that feels more or less like controlled chaos. It’s a roller coaster ride, one full of dismembered body parts, artistic cussing, inspired chuckles as well as dreadful groans. Jeremy Haun does an inspired job with his panels giving readers the real treat in this issue, the art. It’s dark, detailed and moody which is perfect for a story that literally is about a man that is (or rather was) the vessel for the dark messed up chaos in this little universe. Overall The Darkness #103 is an entertaining but at times messed up issue that is not going to be for every comic reader out there. But nevertheless if you’re willing to take a chance it’s definitely a comic worth picking up. 4/5

It may still be early days, but Saga is setting up to be an interesting title. It has a big name or two behind it, sure, but the main appeal is its unique story and universe. Saga #3 is good example of something that doesn’t jump through tired cliché, offering a tight storyline with a unique appeal. It doesn’t have the pull of a long-standing title, but this makes it even easier for new readers to jump aboard. The plot is quick to pick up and, although the narrative can move quite slow, the storyline is none the less engaging. The two protagonists, Alana and Marko, are likeable enough, despite Marko being unconscious for the majority. The official description from Image: BKV’s and FIONA STAPLES’ controversial epic continues! Stranded on a mystical alien world, new parents Marko and Alana encounter their greatest fear This isn’t typical science fiction, and Saga #3 makes sure to get that point across. Much like the artwork, the story is often fantastical, yet always part of a universe that feels alive. The art style is unique, more daring than its competitors, and may come as a surprise to some. Yet it fits the story and atmosphere almost perfectly. More importantly, it has a unique feel that stands out from its countless predecessors. The world doesn’t appear flashy or full of lasers. Yet Saga #3 still offers a world full of depth, with various alien races that suggest history and character without lecturing the reader. With an author such as Brian K Vaughan on board; the writer of Y: The last Man, it should be of no surprise that the plot focuses on individuals, driving home a sense of humanity and personality. The fact that the main cast aren’t necessarily human isn’t a problem here, either. The dialogue never feels forced, and follows previous issues with occasional narrations by Hazel, the daughter of Alana and Marko. The unique perspective offers insight without getting in the way of developments. The only major downside would be the slow plot developments. This is a story focused on a relationship between characters, not of galactic war and fighting, so it likes to take things slow. Yet with everything else it has going for it, as well as what looks like the introduction of a new main character to the small cast, Saga #3 looks set to be a winner. 4/5

Robert Kirkman gets around, the biggest name in Image Comics. The official description from Image: From the creative minds of Image partners Robert Kirkman & Marc Silvestri! Once the hard core is shot into the back of your neck, an assassin’s brain waves can be transmitted into your body–circumventing your brain functions–taking complete control of your body. When assassins use this technology–your killer can be anyone; your barber, your neighbor or your wife. They are the best assassins in the world–but what happens when one of their own turns against them? Who can you trust when your enemy can change his appearance as easy as someone changes a shirt? What I like about this comic is that it introduces a concept, (the Hardcore bullet) then by the end, everything changes. Our main character is Drake, likable guy. When reading, it appears that this will be episodic with the antagonist changing every time….but nope. I can’t really say who he/she is, it’s a major spoiler. This antagonist is well-written, his motives and backstory makes sense. The art is good. Maybe not that dynamic, but the detail is good enough. The writing here is very good, and sometimes humorous. Drake is a fun guy to read, especially his reactions when fusing with other people. Overall, a good start to what looks to be another great series from Image. The premise and concepts is interesting and the writing will keep you entertained. I recommended checking out this new series, you won’t be disappointed. 4.5/5

The story started out pretty normal, someone shooting down people from up high with a rifle. Nothing we haven’t seen before. We are then introduced to our two main characters, a ballet dancer Quinn and her boyfriend Alan, a retired military man. (Or so we think.) What I like is that these characters feel ‘real,’ they’re not one-dimensional. The story moved along smoothly, nothing out if the ordinary….until we learn a few interesting things regarding Alan. This is where it gets interesting. Someone is after him for an unknown reason. Still it doesn’t sound new right? It sounds interesting, but maybe not original, eh? Well, wait until you find out the ‘big reveal.’ Is this story supernatural? Science fiction? Or both?! I love it when stories surprise you like this. The art has a retro ‘noir’ feel to it. Something out of a 50′s thriller. The writing is a strong aspect here. It’s old-fashioned with a modern twist. However, it’s the very intriguing story that you’ll want to buy this comic for. Overall, Image has once again supplied us with a great new #1. No superheroes or capes, we have what looks to be a down-to-earth story. The big plot twist of course will surprise, good stuff. This comic has succeeded in making me want the next one right now, so go pick up Dancer #1. 5/5

THR reports that writer of Contagion and The Bourne Ultimatum Scott Z. Burns has been tapped by Fox to pen the sequel to the critical and commercial surprise hit of last year, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Original writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa were brought on to write a draft of the sequel, but it seems that is being re-written. There’s hardly anything we know of the story yet, except it reportedly “takes the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.” Contagion had a slightly mixed reaction to it as did one of his other works, The Informant!, but The Bourne Ultimatum was critically acclaimed. What do you think about Burns penning the sequel? And as his last few movies have starred Matt Damon, do you think he could play a role in the sequel? Sound off with your thoughts below.
At the Fox Upfronts this year, a place where the company and others to announce their upcoming slates, CEO of ABC revealed that the TV show adaptation of Hulk that has been in development for a few years now with Guillmero Del Toro at the helm is still in development and will hopefully be ready for next year. “Hulk is in development,” he confirmed. “It wasn’t going to be ready this season but we hope it’s going to be ready for next season.” “We’re immensely proud to be a company with The Avengers,” he said. “We’re going to continue to develop aggressively.” When pressed for details, he said: “We’ve got some in development, but none that I can talk about at this point.” What do you think these could be? We know there was an adaptation of The Punisher circulating around Fox but it’s allegedly been indefinately put on hold. A.K.A Jessica Jones could be another, but I’m not sure if that’s at another studio (sorry about that). Sound off with your thoughts below. UPDATE: Well…… This was well timed. It has just been revealed that the network has passed on A.K.A Jessica Jones, and as the adaptation of The Punisher, it looks like the only Marvel show they’re producing over the next few years will be Hulk. Apparentally, the show would include appearances from Luke Cage and Carol Danvers, AKA Ms. Marvel. SOURCE: THR

Ridley Scott’s apparent determination to spoil his own movie, Prometheus, with oodles of spoilery footage being released pretty much every other day, has become something of a joke/annoyance (delete as applicable) for fans of Alien in recent weeks. It’s fair to say that you can now piece most of the movie (and the DVD special features) together from the footage we have, or least work out THE ENTIRE PLOT. The new TV spot for Prometheus has arrived, and while it looks really, really good, there’s a lot (and I mean a hell of a lot) of spoilers in there, some completely blatant. Take a look at the new TV spot anyway, but stay clear if you want to remain unspoiled for the prequel-of-sorts… Prometheus is released on June 1st (UK), June 8th (US) and in the next week or so (when someone edits the footage we have together to make the whole movie).

Hot off the heels of The Avengers fantastic box office success, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Fiege appeared in an interview with Bloomberg to discuss the superhero team-up of a lifetime’s box office success, and reveals that Marvel is working on two unannounced projects. One of those is obviously the 2014 movie (which is likely either Guardians of the Galaxy or Doctor Strange - probably the former) but I doubt The Avengers II would be in active development so quickly. The May 2014 movie IS NOT Ant-Man though, as Fiege previously said in an interview with Collider that depending on when Edgar Wright makes the long-awaited flick, they may have to make 3 movies in 2014. So what movies is he talking about? My money is on Guardians of the Galaxy for May 2014, as that movie needs to happen if Thanos is to be expanded upon, and Ant-Man for late 2014. If Thor II‘s release date of November 2013 works out well for them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they started releasing more movies in the winter. “We want to do two films a year. Avengers is our only film this year, but in a week and a half we begin filming Iron Man 3. By the end of the summer we’ll be working on the next Thor film, early next year the next Captain America film. Those are the three we’ve announced so far; we’ve got two beyond that that we haven’t announced yet, but we’re working on.” SOURCE: Bloomberg

Yesterday Idris Elba (who played Heimdall in Thor) gave a small update on his character’s involvement and the story for Thor II, whilst doing press for Prometheus. He said that Asgard will feature more in the story, and Heimdall will as well. Now, speaking to Collider, Elba talks about what he would like to see explored for his character and more. Will you be returning for Thor 2? Yes, I am. I’m definitely going to do my man in a suit film. What are you most excited about getting to do in the sequel? I’d just like to get to know him a bit more. Who is Heimdall? He guards the gate. Okay. Is there anything else? I don’t know what is in the script because I haven’t read it yet. But, the audience has responded to Asgard and wants to know more about who lives there and what it’s about. I’m sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more. Also, speaking to Crave, Kat Dennings (who played the widely-hated character of Darcy in Thor) revealed that she is unsure of whether she’ll return of the sequel. Since it’s already been revealed that the majority of the cast of the first film are returning (with confirmation from the actors), is it possible Dennings won’t be returning? CraveOnline: Kat, they’re gearing up for Thor 2. Are you going to be in it? Kat Dennings: You know, I don’t know. Marvel is so tight lipped, you never know anything. So I have no idea.
If you’re one of the many diehard fans who’ve been waiting on hands and knees to play Blizzard’s Diablo 3, you might have to wait a bit longer. Apparently the RPG behemoth has one ridiculously crippling bug in its system that’s barring all affected gamers from logging into their profile. But, it just so happens that we know how to avoid this little road bump, so listen up. Early in the game you’ll meet a Templar, but don’t equip him with anything! At least, don’t until you’ve added him to your merry group of hackers and slashers. If you give him anything (especially shields), you run the risk of activating that terrible little bug, which will boot you from your game and block you from your profile. This whole fiasco appears to be specific to Demon Hunters, which is good news for the cooler classes (yea… I said it). Make sure you come back to UTF and we’ll let you know when Blizzard smooths it out! SOURCE: Kotaku

SFX has just revealed that exclusive footage for The Amazing Spider-Man will premiere at Kapow! Comic-Con, takin place this weekend. The footage will be shown at the Sony Pictures panel on the Sunday, but it remains to be seen whether this will be the CinemaCon footage, the scenes from the fan screenings a few months ago or something entirely new. If it is the footage from CinemaCon and there is a Sony panel, then it’s highly likely both Skyfall and Men In Black III will have a presence. Unfortunately, that’s all the details we have for now but stay tuned to UTF over the coming days as the last few announcements roll out, and this weekend as I’ll be covering the event and posting a description of the footage, or any other footage that is shown. There’s a ton more stuff to do there as well, including watching exclusive footage from The Raid and Storage 24, and meeting guests such as Joe Queseda, Dan DiDio, Mark Millar, Warren Ellis, Adi Grandov, Nick Frost, Noel Clarke and more. Hope to see you there! SOURCE: SFX

Well, at least I think they have. Brazilian astronomers have been grappling with a mysterious extra-terrestrial object floating on the outer fringes of our solar system for the past few months. While they haven’t been able to exact an image of the black sphere (you know, because it kinda blends in with the rest of outer space), they’ve observed its gravitational effect on nearer Kepler Bodies, which are icey blocks of space debris in the same cosmological family as Pluto. Now, considering how scary this all sounds, I think it’s safe to assume that our Earthen technology has finally detected Galactus. You know, the giant purple Devourer of Worlds? Don’t worry about it too much, though. The big guy has a notoriously bad sense of hearing, hence his dependence on shiny skinned heralds (I’m talking about the Silver Surfer, dummies!) so as long as we all remain very quiet, he should pass right by us… hopefully. For more information about this bizarre outer space anomaly, check out National Geographic‘s recent article. And even though I’m sure they’ve contradicted everything I just said, you should probably believe me. I watch PBS‘s Nova all the time, so I’m pretty much an expert on these matters.

A four minute super preview for Marc Webb’s upcoming reboot The Amazing Spider-Man aired last night during the premiere of America’s got Talent. Unfortunately, there isn’t really much new footage apart from a scene at the beginning involving Spidey saving a small child from certain death. The rest is basically the trailer with some new snippets of footage. Check out the video below: The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

With the recent Tomb Raider reboot becoming yet another delayed game; this time not until 2013, it can make you wonder what’s going on in the industry. This year alone, titles such as Max Payne 3, Darksiders 2, and Diablo 3 have all had various delays and set backs. To add insult to injury, today Silent Hill: Book of Memories was further delayed (after an initial bout of crippling setbacks). An arrogant fanboy such as myself can only conclude that either something is massively f***ed up inside every game studio in the world, or developers have caught a simultaneous bout of stage fright. More importantly, you might notice what these games all have in common; they are all sequels or additions to a long standing series. These games have previous success and finances to bank on, as well as a strong fan base. Pre-orders are also popular. For this, the loyal fan gets rewarded with inevitable set backs; “thanks for the money, here’s the waiting room” and a pat on the back. Perhaps developers should take pre-pre-orders, just to get the point across. What’s worse than this is that the developers don’t often explain why the game is delayed. “Adding polish” is management speak; if there is an actual problem, a loyal fan would prefer to know what it is, knowing it is being fixed. Is this something unique in the video game industry? If my favorite comic book turned around and said they were going to be late because they were ‘adding polish’ to the title, I’d have to ask what they were doing. Did someone forget to staple the pages? Then again, anyone who has read Spawn is use to these kind of set backs. And a honest fan will tell you that it isn’t Image’s flagship title any more; constant delays drastically effect the fan base. If your product isn’t delivered on time, newer customers will move on. Likewise, when a movie gets delayed or put on hold, there’s usually a reason. Conflicting schedules between actors, and changing directors shouldn’t happen in video games, so what’s happening behind the curtain? One of the reasons might be the shrinking staff count in the average development studio; often for financial reasons. Newer generation games often take more people longer to make; more coding and polygon counts makes sure of that. The maths is already against the humble developer; cutting staff members clearly isn’t going to help. Even with this, its still not clear what problems developers are discovering so late into a game’s development? Multi-player games can be excused, as late betas and tests often uncover numerous bugs and balance issues that need to be addressed. We can also forgive Diablo III, as Blizzard love to take their time, teasing their audience (but none the less keeping them updated and informed). Yet for single player games, such as Darksiders 2, one has to question what game-changing issues are being addressed. Game footage has been shown, with countless trailers advertising a game...

It’s the end of Once Upon a Time‘s freshmen season and like any show’s season finale it must be effective, evocative and engaging in a way that makes people shout “I have to wait four more months for the next episode?” So did it do that? Read on to find out. Official description from ABC: Emma and Regina work together to save Henry’s life; Prince Charming tries to escape from the Evil Queen and reunite with Snow White. The basic premise for the show is that the Evil Queen cast a curse that sent all the story book characters we think we know to a land without magic (our world). In order to break this curse Snow White and Prince Charming sent their baby daughter (Emma) through in a protective shell. Emma grew up in our world with no memory of where she came from. To further complicate matters she also had a son, Henry, that she put up for adoption. When Emma reached her 28th birthday, Henry (now a little boy) found her and brought her into a web of intrigue centered around his stepmother Regina and a town full of story book characters called Storybrooke. Only a handful of the characters in the town remember who they were, Regina (the Evil Queen), Mr. Gold (Rumpelstiltskin) Jefferson (the Mad Hatter) and August (Pinocchio). Everyone else is oblivious. Leading into the finale Emma decided to leave Stroybrooke so that she and Regina would stop fighting over her son. As a parting gift she was given a poisoned apple turnover. She didn’t eat it. Her son did. He did it to try and make his mom believe in what was happening around her. But as a result he fell into a death like state as Emma finally believed everything he had said about this town. Because of that everything came to a head in this episode. The writers didn’t try and hold back the story as character arcs moved forward, and the show shook up the formula it had followed all season long. It had everything you could want in a season finale and more. It had dragons, true love, heroic acts and devious betrayals all culminating in a cliffhanger that would make any watcher eager for the next season. This finale was simply the show at its best, bring on season 2! 4.5/5 SOURCE: ABC

The press juggernaut for Prometheus is beginning, and as part of said juggernaut, Idris Elba sat down with MTV to talk about Prometheus, and of course, upcoming sequel Thor 2, where he’ll reprise the role of rainbow bridge/Bifrost keeper of the keys (or magical sword), Heimdall. A lot of people, myself included, thought that Heimdall was used perhaps a touch too sparingly in Thor, and wanted more Heimdall for their money. And happily, we’ll get more Heimdall in Thor 2! Watch the interview below (be warned, it’s US only): For those outside the US, like me, here’s what Elba said about Heimdall and the sequel in general: “I’m actually excited about it. I literally just did a costume fitting the other day.” Elba revealed that he’d seen an outline of the sequel’s plot. “Definitely Heimdall’s more involved, but also, what’s more involved is who the Asgardians are,” he said. “I think we’ll see a sense of that. It’s a huge film, ‘Thor 2,’ but I also think it’s micro in a way that you start to look at people, who they are a little bit more.” Thor 2 will see Thor jetting off to other realms, expanding on his relationship with Jane Foster and looking at his complicated relationship with his dad, Odin. All the first movie’s cast will return. Thor 2 will be directed by Alan Taylor, and will be released on November 15, 2013.
