Philip Seymour Hoffman Signs On For The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

It was reported a few months ago that Phillip Seyour Hoffman was in discussions with Lionsgate to play Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, head gamemaker of the Hunger Games, and now E! News has learned that he has officially signed on to play the role.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

With both Heavensbee and Johanna Mason already cast, now it’s just a matter of time before the right actor is picked for the next major role, Finnick Odair. We previously heard that Garrett Hedland, Arnie Hammer and Taylor Kitsch were all in talks for the movie, but the latter later denied any involvement. What do you think of the news? Sound off below!
