THE FLASH Releases New Pilot Pics, Central City Gets Ready For A Blackout!

It’s been a long summer waiting for The Flash premiere, but we’re slowly racing to the finish line…get it? Because he runs fast? Never mind. To get us more hyped for the pilot’s October 7 air date, DC Entertainment has released a batch of official images featuring protagonist Barry Allen, a few of the supporting players and Flash veteran John Wesley Shipp as Barry’s father Henry in prison. Check them out!

In other Flash news, expect Central City’s lights to go out in the near future, because there’s a Blackout coming! Yes, I meant to capitalize that. TV Line reports that episode 7 of The Flash will feature a character named Farooq, “an electricity-wielding metahuman” who “seeks vengeance against Dr. Wells.” To top it off, Flash will be “suffering a “powers” outage just when this new baddie arrives.” Is Farooq to blame for Barry’s condition, or is there another force at work? We shall see.

Now, Marvel fans might be familiar with the super villain Blackout (he appeared in season 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.LD.), but I doubt many of you know of DC’s Blackout. That’s because Farooq only ever appeared in the Flashpoint books back in 2011. He cameoed several times in the main book, and was a supporting character in the Outsider miniseries. With so few appearances, don’t get your hopes up of seeing this Blackout come back in another episode. Plastique stands a better chance of returning.

It’s worth noting that this is the same episode that Clock King will arrive in Central City and team up with a currently-unknown villain, although it’s probably Girder. Two villains, a electricity-boosted metahuman and no powers?! Those are some Spider-Man levels of bad luck right there!
