JOAQUIN PHOENIX is Lex Luthor in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN?

I hate rumors as much as the next guy, but this one’s actually growing some legs. Joaquin Phoenix could very well play Lex Luthor in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN.

We’ve heard this bit of gossip around the water cooler over the past few months, but this is the first time it’s seemed like a concrete reality. According to our good friend NailBiter at CBM, Phoenix only has to say ‘yes’ to the role, and it’s his. As one of the chief fanboys of this lovely little site, I’d be more than happy to watch Joaquin Phoenix terrorize Superman and Batman in the Man of Steel sequel. Compared to those actors previously rumored for the role, like Bryan Cranston and Bradley Cooper, Phoenix is the most badass.

Sorry Mr. White, you just can’t compete with Commodus. The dude killed Russel Crowe in a gladiatorial arena. Nuff Said.

We’ll have more news as we receive it, but for the time being, you have my permission to gossip with your drinking buddies about Joaquin Phoenix potentially portraying Lex Luthor. If this rumor is eventually disproven, well… then you can blame me.

But blame me all you want, you’ll still lose the admiration of all of your geeky friends.  Just the way she goes.
