Wait, WHO Is Directing PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5?

Yeah, I’ve never heard of them either. A while back we brought you the shortlist of directors Disney had in mind for Pirates of the Caribbean 5, and the only name anyone had heard of on that list was Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman). Deadline is now reporting who HAS got the job, but it’s not Sanders… It’s Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg!

Oh, calm down guys I know I’m hilarious. Anyway, I’ve never heard of these guys but they’re a pair of Norweigan directors who helmed Kon-Tiki last year, which was Oscar-nominated for Best Foreign Film. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Johnny Depp have both signed off on the choice and now it’s just a matter of getting the script ready and casting.
