Here’s The Shortlist Of Directors For PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

Yeah yeah, Pirates of the Caribbean sucks but deep down I know you all were craving this piece of news. Deadline report that they’ve got their hands on the shortlist of directors for the fifth instalment in the popular Johnny Depp franchise, due for release in July 2015. Both producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Depp’s new movie The Lone Ranger is released this June, and with the uncertainty of whether that’ll turn a profit naturally talk returns to the old cash cow that is Pirates. Check out what they had to say below:

While a number of pie in the sky giant directors are being mentioned, here are three helmers I hear are on the short list. Fredrik Bond, who helmed The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman, has been a favorite of Bruchkeimer and has been rumored for some time. The hot new candidate is the Kon-Tiki directing team of Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, who just fell out of the Legendary Pictures film Spectral; and I am also hearing buzz about Snow White And The Huntsman helmer Rupert Sanders.

I’ll be honest… The only name I’d heard of from that list was Sanders, and the only movie I’d heard of was his. While that can be a good thing and a way of generating much-needed fresh blood into the franchise, there’s no way of telling whether they’re any good for most movie fans.
