JOHNNY DEPP. DOCTOR STRANGE MOVIE. Nuff Said

Wow. A Johnny Depp Doctor Strange Movie has been one of the most talked about “fan castings” in all of fandom. Whenever we would talk about a Doctor Strange movie in our venerable halls of geekdom, Depp was THE GUY who was first and foremost in everyone’s mind. Of course, we’ve always thought o it as the most unlikely of unlikelies. He was the White Whale of fan casting, if you will. Uncatchable. Just too damn big and too damn busy.

Well, following a slew of box office disapointments (Dark Shadows and The Lone Ranger) Johnny Depp might actually enlist in the mighty Marvel Studios pantheon. According to the latest rumors, birthed in the gossipy halls of Latino-Review but later confirmed by Variety, Johnny Depp is in early discussions to portray Stephen Strange, M.D. on the big screen.

Holy Monkey Balls.

There’s no way I could eloquently describe how f###ing awesome this news is. As I said earlier, Depp is THE GUY, the only one in the world, who’s ever been unanimously elected by the fanboys and their fan casting to portray Doctor Strange on the big screen. Never in a million BILLION years did we ever think this was possible.

Marvel certainly needs an A-list contender to lead their line of movies once Robert Downey Jr. has had his fill of Iron Man. They’ve tried to create superstars from their other franchises, but not even Hemsworth’s mighty Thor or Hiddleston’s fan favorited Loki have broken the “A-List” barrier. Depp is, again, THE GUY to fit that bill.

As well, we’ve often considered the Depp as Doctor Strange dream outlandish because “Depp’s too big of an actor for a Marvel role. He’s big enough on his own. He doesn’t need no stinking Marvel”. Well, since he is in early negotiations, we’re obviously mistaken.

So what have we learned today? Patience is a virtue? If you build it, they will come? The Dark Flame Will Not Avail You!

I’m not really sure, but if Johnny Depp does star in a Doctor Strange Movie, well… Marvel’s got their new Robert Downey Jr. Say hello to a darker, more mystical Phase 3, 4, and 5.
