MARVEL Gets New Web Series All About COSPLAY

Marvel launched a new web series today called Marvel Method: Cosplay that is all about how to make a costume, what steps to go through and anything else about the hobby that has captivated millions of convention go-ers with their spandex and foam weapons.

The web series is hosted by Judy Stephens (associate producer at Marvel.com and resident cosplay expert) and Lorraine Cink (host and writer of The Watcher) and each episode will see the two crafting all the parts that are required to make a good cosplay and figure out how to tackle it.

In the first episode, Lorraine Cink tries to choose which character to cosplay and debut at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. They highlight some practical issues related to choosing a character and eventually settle on The Scarlet Witch.

“After considering so many powerful women of the Marvel Universe, we continued to be drawn back to the Scarlet Witch. Her recent death in Uncanny Avengers, her upcoming appearance in Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and her stunning redesign by John Cassaday for the Marvel NOW! initiative all played part in our ultimate decision to build her costume.”

But Cink and Stephens aren’t the only ones involved; they are going to bring in experts to help them out, especially with some of the more technical parts of cosplaying like sewing and stuff.

Catch Marvel Method: Cosplay every Tuesday and Thursday. Judging from the title “Marvel Method”, we might even see more web series that focus on different features. Like “graphic design” or “game show hosting” or “inking” or “public relations”.
