Watch The New Footage of LucasArts’s Defunct STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 3

As we all know, LucasArts was laid to rest last week by Disney in a heart wrenching act of corporate cannibalism, completely cancelling a handful of highly anticipated games. We’ve just written on one of these titles, Star Wars 1313, which was revealed to star the mightiest green bounty hunter in the galaxy, Boba Fett. Can you imagine scouring the seedy back alleys of Coruscant as the narcissistic clone warrior, no-scoping Bothan spies and kidnapping members of the Senate for ransom. Those COULD have been the days…

Yeah… Darth Yoda was gonna be in it at one point

Well, here’s an even bigger scoop of bad news to add to your day. Among the cancelled games was the newest version of STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 3. Yes, THAT one never completed sequel we’ve lamented for years. It’s always been so close to release, but by cruel twisted fate, whichever developer was working on the game at the time would reach their untimely death (Rebellion, Pandemic, and now, LucasArts).

But it’s not all bad news. This newest iteration of Battlefront 3 wasn’t exactly the prettiest version we’ve seen, since it’s essentially a vehicle laden version of the cancelled FPS, First Assault. In fact, the design of Rebellion’s 2008 game was superior (at least, in this humble carnitas devouring fanboy’s opinion).

What do you think? Mildly saddened by this news? Or are you already numbed by this ridiculous onslaught of geeky heartbreak we’ve suffered over the past few years? Not to sound melodramatic or anything.
