The Return of ROGUE! X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Director’s Cut On The Way

Grab any 10 X-Men fans off the street, and 9 out of 10 of them will tell you that X-Men: Days of Future Past was one of the best, if not THE best, films in the franchise (the other person will still be complaining about Quicksilver’s look). That being said, many were disappointed by some of the material cut from the final edit, including one sequence featuring everyone’s favorite power-sucking mutant Rogue. She appeared in those early trailers, but by the time audiences sat down to watch the time travel wackiness, all that was left of her was a several second scene of her with Bobby Drake. How could they?!?!

Well never fear, mutant allies! You’ll likely get your cut Rogue scenes, and plenty of other deleted goodness when the director’s cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past is released later this year! This was revealed by producer Lauren Shuler Donner reveal days ago on Twitter, but no other details have been revealed.

Despite being the film being labeled as the return of the original X-Men cast, Days of Future Past only featured Wolverine, Professor X, Hugh Jackman and Kitty Pryde in important roles. Everyone else was reduced to guard duty against the Sentinels…strike that, fodder against the Sentinels. There was a lot of unexplored territory with those future events. Not just with Rogue’s sequence (which involved a team rescuing her to help Kitty after Wolverine slashed her), but other stuff like Kitty and Bobby’s relationship. The theatrical version was already captivating (I didn’t check what time it was once during the showing), so the fans will definitely appreciate the extra scenes.

That extended cut probably won’t include just cut future scenes. There will probably be extra ’70s stuff as well. Perhaps that scene with Quicksilver talking to his sister, or Wolverine hitting up the disco tech? What, that last one was never filmed? Well why the hell not?!?!
