Only about a week ago, we got confirmation that Princess Rosalina from the Mario Galaxy games would be playable in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. As a Christmas present, Nintendo has confirmed a similar character – Princess Zelda, from the Legend of Zelda series.
Not that I’m trying to say that Zelda or Rosalina are copy-characters anyway, no. I just mean that the concept of a magical princess is similar. Move-set wise, they seem pretty different. In fact, for this game, they seem to have given Zelda some new attacks – including the ability to summon a knight in shining armor. I guess she doesn’t need Link anymore, eh?
Zelda is still in her Twilight Princess costume, but otherwise, it isn’t clear if she will be keeping her Super Smash Bros. Brawl attack set.
Zelda is the 20th confirmed character for the next Super Smash Bros., and the third confirmed character from The Legend of Zelda series, after Link and Toon Link. I have a feeling that Ganondorf will be the fourth character.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS is being released sometime in 2014 for the aforementioned consoles.
So…will Zelda be your go-to character? Or does this news pale to the Rosalina confirmation?
