TOON LINK Adds Cuteness to Upcoming SMASH BROS. Game!

Arguably, it was only a matter of time, since the new Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Wii U port has been receiving hype, critical acclaim, and good sales to boot. Well, whatever. Toon Link has now been confirmed as a playable character in next year’s Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

Toon Link, as far as “clone characters” go, was always a fan favorite back in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I know that he was popular with female players. Maybe it was because he was a chibi version of Link. Or maybe it was the cat eyes. Unfortunately, he was kept out of the game’s Subspace Emissary.

“H-hey, not the hair!”

Some fans aren’t pleased, though, saying that Nintendo shouldn’t bring back any clone characters. I get the complaint, but we don’t know his full move-set yet. They could have changed the majority of it, for all we know. I do hope that Toon Link gets a new Final Smash, though.

Toon Link is the second Legend of Zelda character so far, but I have a feeling that we’ll be getting Zelda and Ganondorf before too long. The game currently has 16 confirmed characters.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U will be released for previously stated consoles sometime next year. The game is being developed by Masahiro Sakurai (Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Kid Icarus: Uprising) and directed by Yoshito Higuchi (Tales of the Abyss).

“I did not mean to do that!”

So…does this news make you even more excited for the next Smash Bros.? Or do you just want to play Wind Waker again?
