There’s a PACIFIC RIM Video Game Coming Your Way

PACIFIC RIM looks to be the most fun movie of the year. Robots come to blows with monsters, it doesn’t get any better than that. Movie tie-in games aren’t exactly as abundant as they once were. Iron Man 3 didn’t get one, (I do not count phone games) G.I. Joe Retaliation didn’t get one, and it looks like Man of Steel will be lacking one. Maybe the companies have realized that tie-ins are rarely anything amazing? Maybe. But this could change with the release of the Pacific Rim video game. There aren’t too many details, but you will find some leaked screenshots below.

The game will be distributed by Yuke’s Co, known for their work on recent WWE and UFC games. And apparently it will be rated…M??? That’s quite a shocker actually, I’m hoping that changes. It just seems odd that a title like this would be rated M. Consoles aren’t confirmed yet, but it will be ‘multi-platform,’ which probably means it won’t just be a cellphone game.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
