RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER is an XBOX ONE Exclusive?! F#(% THAT!!

The title says it all my fellow fanboys and fangirls. I’m deeply disappointed in this Gamescom Tomb Raider announced move by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics.

And the developers further clarified their decision via a blog post on Tumblr:

… Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past – we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

Oh thank you for that. We get the multiplayer spinoff’s sequel and a re-issued version of a game from 2013, woopdee-friggin-do!

Let’s point out the simple fact that Tomb Raider was born on the original PlayStation. And we all know that there was a cush financial incentive to get this title as a timed exclusive and it has nothing to do with support. How do I know that? Because there’s no way that the companies behind this would intentionally shoot themselves in the foot by limiting their audience without some kind of monetary deal. By releasing what should be a visually engaging title on a system that, sorry fanboys and fangirls, is weaker than the PS4 and modern gaming PCs they just showed their own downright stupidity.

But what do you think? Will you buy an Xbox One to get in on this Lara Croft action? Or will you wait for it to arrive, eventually, on whatever platform you currently own? And as a PS4 owner why should I care? I have Uncharted 4 and Naughty Dog, Microsoft, so whatever I game on with the system I want!
