New Screens of BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS Reveal Barbara Gordon and More

Good news to all the Batman fans out there! Batman: Arkham Origins will be released in less than a month! Better news: Screenshots have just been revealed showing off what we can expect from the highly anticipated prequel. I’m most excited about Barbara Gordon finally making an appearance. For those unaware of her, Barbara is the daughter of Jim Gordon, the lieutenant (or captain, not sure yet) of the Gotham City Police. In those early years, she was a big fan of Batman and encouraged her father to see him as a possible ally. It’s often been theorized that she was the reason Gordon eventually started to trust Batman, but let’s not get into a comic debate here. As she grows up, she becomes the first Batgirl and then Oracle after an attack by the Joker (See Batman: The Killing Joke). It’s unclear what role she’ll play in the story, but I’m glad she’s finally been confirmed.

Other screens show various shots of Batman, including what looks like a nod to Batman: The Animated Series, and one where he breaks into the GCPD building and is watching Brendan outline a plan with the SWAT team to capture him. Batman will have friends and foes on both sides of the law in this game. This only makes me more impatient to play.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on Oct. 25th .
