This morning, the official website for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS updated with the next character: Marth, from Fire Emblem!

Marth’s design has been slightly tweaked, and so has his sword. Speaking of, most of his attacks have more of a glow. Marth still has his counter attack, but it certainly had fancier animation now.

Marth was previously playable in Melee and Brawl, with the former being somewhat of a success story. Before Melee had been released in North America, the Fire Emblem series had no real presence in the American game market. After Melee, the Fire Emblem series is now a best-seller.

Marth is currently the 18th confirmed character, the third confirmed swordsman, and the first confirmed character who hails from Fire Emblem. Now, the great fan debate is: Who will be the second? Will Roy or Ike return? Or will the tradition of always giving Marth a new partner stick? I think it would be pretty cool if we got Roy and Ike back! They’re both pretty cool characters, and I know some people dream of having those two battle.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be released for said consoles sometime in 2014. Masahiro Sakurai (Kid Icarus: Uprising) returns to direct.

So…will you guys buy this game just for Marth?
