Take a moment to let that title sink in my fellow fanboys and fangirls, the man with the proportionate speed and strength of an arachnid is now officially going to be involved in the massive multi-year endeavor that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe! As of a few short hours ago the results of the sort of secret negotiations were made public as Disney and Sony entered into a new era, holding hands, ready to take our cash.
Under the new deal Spider-Man will be joining the other Avengers in a currently unspecified flick, five bucks says Captain America: Civil War. The two studios are ready to integrate him, with a new actor, before giving Peter Parker his next solo adventure. Hold the happy dance because there are some important things to take away: Sony will still be the company that finances and distributes the main series in this re-defined partnership. And yes they still have final creative control.
Even so this still looks like what many of us hoped for following those ever so juicy email leaks, and as a life long Marvel fanboy I can’t wait to see the wise-cracking teen onscreen with the likes of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. So by all means take a moment to bask in the glory of this awesome announcement.
That’s it then, no more Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield or Marc Webb at the helm, it’s over. And to all you naysayers that doubted that this day would ever come I have one thing to say:
HA!! You were totally wrong and there’s web in your eye!!
Now tell us, what do you think? Is this the best news ever? Or were you invested in the Sinister Six and the growing mysteries, and evil agendas, of Oscorp?
