New DIGIMON Series Will Take Place After ADVENTURE For 15th Aniversary!

March 1999. An Adventure began, one that spawned an entire franchise. Skip 15 years ahead. Digimon is now one of the most popular anime franchises, with the 15th Anniversary celebration ongoing. Fans were expecting a huge announcement, and they weren’t disappointed.

Fans will be delighted to hear that a whole new television series is in the works! The biggest part? The new show is in the continuity of the original two series, and fan-favorite characters will be returning. A trailer confirmed that Tai would now be 17 years old. It is currently unknown if this takes place during or before Adventure 02.

This will mark the first ever time a Digimon series received a sequel years later, and is set to air in Japan Spring 2015. Presumably, all the voice actors will reprise their roles, as the majority came back for the recent PSP video game.

Meanwhile, as part of the Anniversary, the original Digimon Adventure season will be collected in a Blu-ray boxset, for the first time ever. A limited edition version will come with a new drama CD. Meanwhile, Japan is also getting a Blu-ray set that will collect every single Digimon film, plus some of the CGI shorts.

Finally, Namco Bandai recently announced a new Digimon video game, Digimon All-Star Rumble, which will be released for the PS3 and 360 in November. The game is a 3D-fighting game where you can play as characters from all six series!

Digimon Adventure spawned a sequel, four films, some manga, and a whole franchise! The sixth series is currently airing in the US on NickToons. The first five series were recently released on DVD, and the first three series are streaming on Netflix and Hulu.

With Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon recently receiving a resurgence in popularity, it seems Digimon is the next to get the treatment! Will you be watching this new show, or leave it to the new generation? Watch the heartwarming trailer in the link below!
