Three episodes in, and Marvel’s newest TV show has caught its first break. ABC announced today that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up for a full season. This adds another nine episodes to the previous 13 that were already ordered.
It’s official. We’ve just been picked up for the full first season! Thank you to all of our fans! #AgentsofSHIELD

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s premiere drew in nearly 16 million viewers, the highest rated TV drama debut in four years. Although the show’s viewership has steadily declined since the premiere, the show still ranks as the No. 1 new show of the 2013-2014 season among adults 18-49.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the third show to get a full season order, joining Fox’s Sleepy Hollow and NBC’s The Blacklist.
While I haven’t been blown away by the three episodes that I’ve seen, I’m glad the show got a full season order. I know it has the potential to be better, and once the writers and actors can work past the kinks that are always noticeable during any show’s first episodes, I think it could become a staple in ABC’s programming.
Still, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind the show’s producers to be careful. Other shows have been picked up for full seasons, but cancelled by the time their last episodes. With all the attention and time ABC and Marvel is put into the show, I doubt that will be the case, but still, tread carefully, producers. Start bringing your A game to the table.
Hey, at least we’ll probably get more elaboration on what happened to Coulson after The Avengers. When it comes to everybody’s favorite sarcastic S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, more is always better.
