Lady Sif Will Be Classing Up Future AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Episode

Aside from S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t used any of the characters that have appeared in Marvel Studios films, which has been working just GREAT for them (sarcasm is hard to express through text). That will soon change when Jamie Alexander will guest star as the beautiful and tough-as-nails Lady Sif in an upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel’s announcement says that Sif will come to Midgard for a specific mission, but they can’t give us the details on it quite yet.

This isn’t AOS’s first crossover with the Thor movies. While investigating a pagan group that had gotten a hold of the Berserker Staff in the episode “The Well,” the team met an Asgardian who had been living on Earth for centuries. Unfortunately, the Asgardian was an original character for the show and not any of the Asgardians we’ve grown to love in the movies. The show will feature another crossover in April with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I’d like to think this is Marvel’s way of rectifying their previous mistake of including an unknown Asgardian (not to discount Peter MacNichol, he did a good job with what he was given) and giving us a character we’d like to see more of, but I have my suspicions. As mention in the announcement, Thor: The Dark World will be released on 3D Combo Pack, Blu-Ray and DVD on February 25. If this episode is shown sometime near the end of February, it will confirm my belief that the episode is mostly being used to remind people that they need to go out and buy the Thor sequel, much like “The Well” was used to get people to see the movie in theaters.

Maybe I’m just being overly pessimistic. I am excited to see Sif, and hopefully her appearance will boost the series’ viewership, because we all know it needs it. I know that we probably won’t see the full extent of her fighting since AOS’s budget is way smaller than the movie’s, but I’m looking forward to seeing her kick some ass nonetheless!

Update: ABC president Paul Lee has revealed that Sif will appear in episode 15, which coincides with mid-late February. Yep, I figured as much.
