Series eight of Doctor Who is continuing filming, and it looks like the TARDIS might just have picked up a new passenger for Peter Capaldi’s first series.
Samuel Anderson, alum of terrific British soap Emmerdale (before any British readers realize, I am joking, so please don’t bother checking it out), is joining the cast as Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School, workplace of current companion Clara. Pink will be a recurring character, so expect him to die by mid-series.
Here’s Anderson’s statement:
‘I was so excited to join Doctor Who I wanted to jump and click my heels, but I was scared I might not come down before filming started! It’s a quintessential part of British culture and I can’t believe I’m part of it. It’s an honour to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can’t wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo!’
Series 8 of Doctor Who airs in Autumn 2014 on BBC One and BBC America, and should be a full series. Emphasis on ‘should’.
