DR. STRANGE Conjures Horror Director SCOTT DERRICKSON?

Variety reported that the film adaption for everyone’s favorite Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange, may have a director. The director in question is horror director Scott Derrickson, who’s most notable film was the recent horror flick Sinister, which leads many fans to speculate that Marvel may go for a horror vibe for Dr. Strange. Derrickson himself later seemingly confirmed this on his Twitter.

Kevin Feige had repeatedly expressed interest in producing a Dr. Strange film, and rumors had been popping up frequently about the film being part of the MCU’s Phase 3.

Dr. Strange himself was previously mentioned in passing in this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The character himself previously starred in two other films, an obscure live-action film, and a more recent animated DTV.

Scott Derrickson’s resume includes mostly horror films, including The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Hellraiser: Inferno, the aforementioned Sinister, and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil, which stars Hulk‘s Eric Bana. He also directed The Day the Earth Stood Still remake.

Ironically, this news comes during the Ant-Man director hassle. It seems Marvel may want to play it safe this time with Dr. Strange. And if the film is indeed part horror, Marvel will have yet another genre under its belt.

So…are you guys excited for Strange’s big screen debut? Or do you want that Incredible Hulk sequel?
