How will the Halliwell sisters react to Cole’s heroic death? Read on to find out.

The official description from Zenescope:

Together, the Halliwell sisters have access to the greatest source of pure magic that the world has known: The Power of Three. But now that their eldest sister has been resurrected, a strange magic threatens to tear them apart.

After being hunted by Gaxageal, the Charmed Ones have again triumphed over evil. However, another threat lurks in the darkness as a demon named Valen attacks with the ancient Athame, a weapon that can destroy souls. As they fight the demon off, Cole Turner is stabbed by the deadly blade.

Charmed Season 10 #5 previewDeath has finally come for Cole, and in his final moments in limbo, the former antagonist is forced to face his inner demon. Having concluded in a thoroughly gripping fashion, the latest chapter of Charmed Season 10 certainly left some speculation, leaving us curious as to what Cole’s death means for the Halliwell sisters. This continues in the latest issue, with the continuation of the sisters battle with Valen, and their awkward encounter with estranged sister Prue leading to some tense developments.

Since it’s launch, writer Pat Shand has done a fabulous job of continuing the fan favourite TV show, as though like most continuation series, it’s not without it’s faults, it’s had it’s fair share of entertaining moments. It is however the way he builds on the emotional aspects of current events that impressed me the most in this issue, with the conflicting emotions of Phoebe being the most notable. In addition to this, Shand delivers some intense moments, with the culminating moments of the sisters battle being thoroughly exciting.

Elisa Féliz continues to do a splendid job on the art of Charmed, as though her rough style remains a little flat at times, the layouts certainly give a dramatic flair. The distinctive character likeness also continues to add a familiar tone to proceedings, as though it’s far from uncanny, it does enough to keep things flowing. Despite this, it’s the artists work on Cole’s limbo sequence that impressed me the most, with his inner battle working brilliantly off the white background. The art is also given wonderful finishing touches by Valentina Cuomo, with her colours adding a vibrant overtone.

Charmed Season 10 #5 is certainly a turning point for the series, as between Cole’s heroic demise, and Gaxageal’s desire to kill the Power of Three allowing for some exciting events. The emotional character depth also adds an extra layer, and along with the fantastic art only gives another reason why you should buy this title.
