CARDCAPTOR SAKURA Finally Getting BLU-RAY Release – With DUB!

After years of waiting, one of the most beloved anime of all time is receiving a pristine Blu-ray release- possibly with an uncut dub! Yup, Cardcaptor Sakura is back!

Based on the manga from CLAMP, Cardcaptor Sakura followed the adventures of a ten-year old girl who tries to collect magical cards before “disaster” can befall the world, with help from a magical creature, her classmate, and a rude young boy. The anime was one of the most popular Magical Girl anime of the late 90s/early 2000s.

Cardcaptor Sakura previously had two DVD released in the US, but one was subbed only, and the other only had a heavily edited dub, known in the US as Cardcaptors.

Directed by Morio Asaka (Chihayafuru), Cardcaptor Sakura ran in Japan from 1998 to 2000. In America, the show aired on Kids WB! with the Cardcaptors dub, which was criticized for skipping episodes, removing content, and re-writing dialogue.

NIS America will release the show in two formats this Summer: One pricy Blu-ray set, and four DVD sets. Both will include a dub, supposedly a new uncut one, which will excite fans! Keep in mind, this isn’t known yet.
