ARROW and AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Return With New Trailers

It’s almost that time again – TV season! With it comes, of course, new trailers, and today two hit for Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. respectively. Well, that last one is more of a little teaser, but we’ll go with it.

Oliver Queen returns on October 7th, so we should start seeing some more promotional material leaking through the cracks as the weeks go on. This isn’t actually a new trailer, but rather the sizzle reel shown at DragonCon. But hey, it’s new to must of us. Check it out below…

It’s kinda… eh.

I gave up on Arrow a long time ago, but I still somewhat follow the news of the show so nothing in there was a complete surprise. The editing was very poor and choppy and the whole thing had the tone of a decently-budgeted fan film. Even the outfits remind me of cosplay. I dunno, is it intentional? I always hate when people trash stuff they don’t know about – which is pretty much what I’m doing – but this hasn’t convinced me that I should give it another shot.

Also, Diggle’s costume still sucks.

I also gave up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a long time ago (barely halfway through the first season), however I still keep up with all the Inhumans stuff because it’s awesome. Fortunately, this new teaser is chock-full of ’em. It debuted exclusively on Yahoo!, but their video player happens to be shocking, to the point where I can’t actually play the video, so here’s a YouTube upload I found. Fuck it.

Everything goes by too quickly to get a proper grasp on things from a non-viewer perspective, but I thought it felt a lot less cheesy than the Arrow footage. I mean, it seemed fun, but I’d have to wait for a full trailer to have a decent handle on things.

Honestly, I don’t know which is better. This is my problem with network TV and why I don’t really watch any of it; everything has to be dumbed down and exaggerated (a cheesy voiceover) for general audiences, or the quality looks crappy. Then again, this is all just from a two-minute sizzle reel and a thirty-second TV spot, which isn’t indicative of an entire TV show. The actual trailers will probably be a lot better.

I dunno. Maybe my more cynical side is showing.

Yay! Superheroes!

Arrow Season 4 hits October 7th. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., contrary to the above image, isn’t a new show, and its third season kicks off September 29th.
