After months of shifting and sifting through the huge haul of fall anime my boss made me watch (think the rehabilitation scene in Clockwork Orange) Unleash Fanboy welcomes you to the all new ANIME TUESDAY! Now while we have already been doing this for a few weeks, here is the first official round-up. As always I, Marcell, will guide you through the madness. Our heroes deal with the aftermath of the Hollow Shadow in BEYOND THE BOUNDARY, Sakura learns about the secret to victory in SEKATSUYO, The Ferrari sisters head to Germany in GALILEI DONNA, Kojou & Yukina party in STRIKE THE BLOOD, & Ryuko becomes the hunted in KILL LA KILL. Now let’s get started.

Kill la Kill – “Trigger”KlK 5.5

“Trigger” is a pretty good episode with some great action, music, character development, and even some comedy thrown in for good measure. The battle between Ryuko & Tsumugu is definitely the highlight and Tsumugu himself is a pretty bad ass character. We also get a peek into the student council is plotting.

Galilei Donna – “Snow Gift”GD 4.5

“Snow Gift” is a pretty solid episode. Even though Hans and the Micro Doctor being introduced is blatantly a plot device, Hazuki & Hozuki’s chase is harrowing, the fight with the Black Ganymede ship is action packed, Anna is put on notice and Kazuki finally begins to do something other than worry. The search for the Tesoro continues next week.

Sekatsuyo! – “The Night Before the Decisive Fight!”Sekatsuyo 5.4

“The Night Before the Decisive Fight” is a decent episode, but it mostly turns into one long montage. Sakura’s training is coming along nice but she still losses despite her energy. Although if wrestling has taught me anything it’s that upsets are par for the course when you have no forward momentum. The Sweet Diva finally amounts to something and Sakura’s match with Hornet was animated well enough. The fight continues next week as the long awaited rematch between Sakura Hagiwara & Rio Kazama finally begins.

Strike The Blood – “From the Warlord’s Empire I”STB 5.6

“From the Warlord’s Empire I” is good introduction into the next arc with plenty of open questions, action, and character development. The animation may have been a bit inconsistent but it was nothing too glaring, and all the mystery set up made it more than watchable.

Beyond The Boundary – “Chartreuse Light”BTB 5.2

“Chartreuse Light” is a nice episode that really gives us a look into some of the characters heads. The one with most development is Mitsuki and her scenes are pretty well done, with the visual imagery and symbolism really shining through. Everyone is alone, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be together when things go bad.
