ANIME MONDAY 5/13/12

Hello & Welcome to ANIME MONDAY right here on Unleash The Fanboy! I am you’re favorite Otaku host Marcell, and there’s a central theme going in today’s anime ladies and gentleman: sadness. Each episode today will either make you feel happy only to shoot you down later, keep you sad throughout, or just outright throw your feelings to the wind and do whatever the hell they feel (I like those the best). The Cold Emperor’s identity is revealed in “FAIRY TAIL”, Mikasa reminisces in “ATTACK ON TITAN”, The Investigation team looks to close the case in “PERSONA 4″, Yui’s origins are revealed in”SWORD ART ONLINE”,  & finally Aladdin & Morgiana reach Balbadd in “MAGI”. Now let’s get started.

Fairy Tail – “Moon Drip”

“Moon Drip” is an episode of more revelations and pathos for Gray as he now has to go face to face with a former friend. Some more characters are introduced and the danger still looms over our spunky wizards. The adventure continues week as Team Natsu moves to stop Lyon from reviving Deliora.

Attack on Titan – “The World She Saw – Defense of Trost Pt. 2”

“The World She Saw” is another solid episode full of emotional scenes and imagery. Nothing is happy or even mildly amusing, everything is dark, depressing, and empty which fits these episodes very well. SHowcasing the darker parts on humanity as well as the present threat of the Titans to great effect. The fight to survive continues next week when Mikasa goes to check on Eren…this won’t end well.

Persona 4 The Animation – “It’s Not Empty At All”

“It’s Not Empty At All” is a fitting conclusion to the 1st half of the series. While the battle may have been a bit rushed, there is a good amount of time dedicated to character development and drama. There are a few good action scenes and a nice resolution when all is said and done. Next week with the case closed, the kids decide to enjoy their summer vacation.

Sword Art Online – “Yui’s Heart”

“Yui’s Heart” while having a couple problems here and there, is still a fairy decent episode with just the right mix of humor, action, and drama to make it worthy of “Top 5 SAO episodes” list. Kirito & Asuna advance further as a couple, while also getting their individual development as well and the world is expanded more. The fight to survive as Asuna & Kirito return to the 22nd floor.

Magi: Labyrinth of Magic – “His Name is Sinbad”

“His Name Is Sinbad” is another good episode with some character intros and slight world expansion. There are also some good action scenes, funny moments, and a few dramatic moments to keep you hooked. The animation remains pretty fluid and environments great to look at. The magic continues next week as Aladdin & friends take on the Fog Troop.
