The Women of THOR: THE DARK WORLD

With THOR: THE DARK WORLD coming out next month, Marvel is wasting no time advertising their latest blockbuster. What seems to make this film different from the other Marvel properties is not that it’s a movie about magic and fantasy, but because it has a lot of active women in it. Aside from Black Widow’s bas-assery in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers and Pepper’s 30 second fight scene in Iron Man 3, we haven’t seen too many women taking down the bad guys. It looks like The Dark World aims to fix that problem. Marvel has recently released many still images in anticipation for the movie. Many of them feature Lady Sif, (Jamie Alexander), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dannings). No offense to the son of Odin, but it’s finally time the ladies got in on the action.

Does this mean Marvel Studios is well on its way to the first movie starring a female hero in the MCU? Let’s hope so!
