Who’s on Whose Side in CIVIL WAR?

There are several huge and hotly-anticipated comic book movies coming up, but one of the biggest has to be Captain America: Civil War. Adapted from the comic which pitted hero against hero, this new sequel will see the titular Cap’n facing off against everybody’s favourite asshole, Tony Stark. It’s received some fair criticism from fans about the fact that it feels like an Avengers movie as it features almost all of those characters and more, but the reason is because there needs to be more than just those two characters squaring off. The comic had different factions and this will be no different. The question is – who’s on whose side? We may now have the answer.

Heroic Hollywood are reporting that they’ve found out the teams for each hero, and if you’ve been speculating for the past few months then it’s not awfully surprising.

captain america civil war team

  1. Captain America
  2. Hawkeye
  3. Falcon
  4. Scarlet Witch
  5. Winter Soldier
  6. Ant-Man

These names are pretty much what fans have been guessing. Falcon and Bucky were obviously going to be on Steve’s side and it makes sense for Hawkeye and Ant-Man to be there because they both have families. While the MCU’s conflict won’t revolve around secret identities, Scott especially will be opposed to becoming a government lackey. Hawkeye has been for years however it’s different this time; he wants to protect his family rather than get involved with all of that jazz again. Scarlet Witch just doesn’t like America so that one’s fairly clean-cut.

iron man civil war team

  1. Iron Man
  2. Vision
  3. Spider-Man
  4. Black Widow
  5. War Machine

Iron Man has a smaller roster – likely because Marvel wants audiences to sympathise with Cap more. Again, Rhodey is obviously going to show up here, and Peter Parker has likely spent his childhood looking up to a tech genius like Tony Stark (although he does switch sides in the comic), but it’s Black Widow who I’m surprised about. Her connection and bond to Steve was established in their last two appearances and her arc in Age of Ultron didn’t make it seem as if she would be up for supporting the government again. However, El Mayimbe does mention something about a double agent in the article – could this be Natasha?

I had hoped that Vision would remain neutral due to his immense power and higher intelligence; this would be nothing more than a petty squabble to him. At the same time, he’s JARVIS so he obviously has that connection to Tony. We’ll see how it pans out.

Regardless, these are the teams. Probably. Even if this report is false then the names don’t seem too far off the mark, so expect to see all of these supes facing off next May in Civil War. Who’s pumped?!
