What’s Up With The Costume In The ANT-MAN Test Footage?

Footage for Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man first appeared for a small few at the San Diego International Comic-Con in 2012. Unlike a lot of other footage, it never really made it out to Youtube, or at least not that I could find although an artist rendition of the footage that was shown has supplemented that void.

Fast forward to this week in London where the test footage was shown again and has finally made it’s way, with surprisingly great quality.

Ant-Man, secret identity Hank Pym, is a biophysicist who created a chemical substance aptly called Pym particles that would allow him to change in size. Also armed with a helmet that allows him to control insects, Ant-Man earned his spot to become one of the founding members of the Avengers.

Being able to see the Ant-Man costume, thanks to the video quality, it seems quite faithful to the source material. I do wish the helmet showed more of his face which we see in the comic world, but I get the idea that his helmet in the movie might be for tied into his own nervous system because of connections in the back of the helmet to his costume and maybe some kind of breathing apparatus because of how much of his face it actually covers.  Here’s a shot of it from the footage…

With Ant-Man’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe I can only imagine what this means for the Avengers and all thoughts lead to one conclusion, Ultron.

Ant-Man has been confirmed for Marvel Phase 3 and is scheduled for a release date of Nov. 6, 2015.
