The Wolverine is Back on Schedule

After a few long months of delays and production mayhem, Hugh Jackman’s The Wolverine has finally been awarded a release date.

If you can remember, it was at this point last year when Darren Aronofsky was announced as the film’s director. Much to our delight, he claimed that The Wolverine would be a standalone flick, not to be associated with the fiasco known as X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But while we were all drooling at the thought of the Requiem for a Dream director taking a stab at a superhero flick, trouble was brewing at Fox Studios. Aronofsky dropped from the project, thinking that the amount of time spent filming in Japan would interrupt his family life too much, and the film entered into pre-production limbo.

Well, you should know what happened next. James Mangold, of Knight and Day fame, was selected as the replacement, with filming to commence this Spring. The Wolverine is set for a July 26, 2013 release…so we still have a ways to go, but we’ll let you know more as the news comes in.
