The Flash Movie Isn’t Dead Yet

I think it’s safe to say that Green Lantern was a flop. A big one. DC envisioned that movie to kick off the DC Cinematic Universe, paving the way for other characters to get the big screen treatment like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and namely the Flash. Well, the movie isn’t dead yet. Apparentally The Flash is under currently undergoing major treatment over at the Warner Bros offices, and that it is near the top of DC movies they want to get started on. Speaking to blastr, Wrath of the Titans scribe Dan Mazeau revealed that he formed a treatment for a Flash movie and more. Read his comments below:

I think Warner Bros. is finalizing their strategy of how they want to roll out their DC superheroes and obviously they’ve got Batman in an incredibly great place and Green Lantern, I think, performed okay. I think they probably would have liked it to have done better, but yeah, there is still a whole lot of excitement for the DC universe and I know The Flash is very high on the list.

It’s like anything though. It has to come together with the right cast. It has to come together with the right director and sort of the right moment and so they’re trying to push the rock up the hill…hopefully there will be some news soon, but right now I can’t really say anything else.

    I’m no Hollywood Sales and Marketing executive, but this thing will fare just as badly as the Green Lantern. Unless you’re into comics, you probably don’t know anything about heroes like Flash or the Green Lantern. They don’t have the same appeal as characters like Iron Man, Batman or Spiderman. From a cinema viewers eyes, these just look like the same cookie cutter super hero flicks we’re getting sick of hearing about. Unless they get some bigger names than those behind Green Lantern it’ll just be another hero flop.

    Green Lantern bombed, but I don’t think they have given up on a JL flick just yet.Having said that, I just don’t think Flash is a strong enough character for a stand-alone movie. He runs really fast…great. Now what? You’d need to have an extremely strong story to pull it off and the chances of that happening are slim.

    But, if they were to do this, The Shade would be the way to go as far as a rogue is concerned.

    After the success of Nolan’s Batman franchise, instead of spreading out to do a JL movie, you’d figure they would do some Bat family movies instead. Or at least a Nightwing movie.
