STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: HAN SOLO Gets THE LEGO MOVIE Directors!!!

Everything is awesome!

It has just been announced that Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the creative brainiacs behind the Jump Street franchise and The Lego Movie, have been plucked by the Disney overlords to direct one of their Anthology films – a young Han Solo movie!!

This is just another title to add to the duo’s ever-growing list of upcoming projects. They were developing The Flash for Warner Bros however THR notes that they’re probably off that project now. Same with a third Jump Street movie. And the potential crossover between that franchise and Men in Black. And the all-male Ghostbusters spin-off. They’re also doing an animated Spider-Man movie as well, although whether that’s still happening I have no idea.

“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”

In your head, Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo sounds like a great idea. Who wouldn’t want to learn how he got what it takes to shoot first?! However, then you start to think about it, and realise it might be terrible without Harrison Ford and it’s kinda pointless. Whatever Lord&Miller (or as I like to refer to them, Lord Miller) touches turns to gold, typically, so this should be OK. I trust them not to screw it up.

Star Wars.com has revealed that the release date is May 25, 2018. THR say that this is definitely not the same movie that Josh Trank dramatically departed a few weeks back; that is a Boba Fett origin movie which is still looking for a director. If this news means we have to miss out on their take for Flash or Spider-Man then I’m totally okay with that. Regardless, the guys are gonna be busy for, like… 10 years.

Oh, and one other thing. Birth, Movies, Death is reporting that Darth Vader will be in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. WOOOO! Today is a great day for Star Wars fans; dance with an ewok and sit down at your local Coruscant bar for a nice glass of that weird milk Luke drinks in Episode IV, because it’s time to celebrate!
