So… Will George Miller Actually do MAN OF STEEL 2?

There’s been some debate over the past month regarding Man of Steel 2; when it’s happening, if it’ll happen, and if so – who will direct? Originally it was looking unlikely that a sequel would ever happen, and then in the same report some rumors hit pointing towards Mad Max director George Miller sitting in the chair next time around. Then some crazy stories hit about Brainiac and Supergirl.

The one persistent element of all these rumors, though, is Miller’s involvement. The rumor broadened to him being offered a multitude of DC movies, yet fans still hoped that he would apply his kinetic and practical visual style to Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Well, too bad, ‘cos it ain’t happening.

“I hope the next film I make is a very small film without any special effects and not many stunts,” he told Digital Spy.

It’s OK to cry, guys.

To add a final nail in the coffin, when specifically asked about Man of Steel 2 (and other DC films), he said, “there’s been some of that in the mix, but I’d say it’s probably not true.”

Aside from that revelation, the thing that stood out to me was how gravelly and sexy George Miller’s voice is. *ahem*

This isn’t really that surprising. He also talks about the two Mad Max sequel scripts he’s got which he’ll probably end up making, and after Fury Road became one of the best movies of this year he has a lot of flexibiltiy in regards to his projects. Happy Feet 3, anyone?

However, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a great fit for a DC movie. He says it himself – he’s interested in mythology, and that’s what superheroes (DC particularly) embody. It may not happen for a while, but I think the possibility of a Miller-directed entry is still out there.

Mad Max: Fury Road is out on Blu-Ray and DVD now. Man of Steel 2 probably won’t be for a long time.
