SKYFALL Becomes the UK’s Highest Ever Grossing Movie

The twenty-third James Bond film, Skyfall, has stormed through cinemas this autumn, racking up an impressive (and it ran away with the franchise’s box office record) $870M at the time of writing – and it hit yet another milestone today. Have you guessed what it is? Well, you can always cast your eyes above, but here it is anyway: it just knocked Avatar off the UK box office top spot.

Grossing a massive £95M in just 4o days, Skyfall stormed past Avatar‘s previous record to become the highest ever grossing movie in Britain – and all without the 3D premium prices that made Avatar so profitable. Producers Micheal G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said this about the record:  “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema-going audiences in the UK who have made Skyfall the highest grossing film of all time. We are very proud of this film and thank everybody, especially Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes, who have contributed to its success.”
