A few days ago the director of the Ghostbusters reboot, Paul Feig, went on a disparaging Twitter rant against the haters of the reboot. The hate is largely coming from the fact that the ‘Busters are now a group of women rather than men – because, y’know, women can’t be funny. Hidden amongst the tweets was a little note to the media – including us.
Gang, everyone should know that any and all cameo announcements are leaks and nothing we wanted made public. Media, please take note.

I only announced @Ernie_Hudson as a cameo because our set was overrun by paparazzi. I really wanted these cameos to be surprises. Just FYI. — Paul Feig (@paulfeig) September 23, 2015
Oh, yeah, Ernie Hudson has a cameo. We totally covered that. Yay!!
But seriously, we’re pretty guilty of this too, and it kinda sucks that all these awesome cameos will now be expectations rather than surprised. However, I think Feig has gone the right way about it in bringing all of the surviving original cast back, but in different roles.
And now another one has joined the cast!

The original idea for Ghostbusters III
Yup, it’s Sigourney Weaver.
Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!

With Weaver in, that means almost all of the surviving cast are in the movie, with one exception: Rick Moranis. The guy hasn’t appeared in a movie since Brother Bear 2 in 2006, and in his last interview – June 2013 – he sounded kinda pessimistic regarding a third Ghostbusters flick. It would be a shame if Feig couldn’t rope him back for just a cameo but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Ghostbusters busts its way into theaters on July 15, 2016.
