Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) just posted a link (also leading to an official tumblr account) to set of teaser posters via Twitter for his Apes sequel Dawn of The Planet of The Apes, which is a direct sequel to Rise of The Planet of The Apes. Set photos from it’s recent production confirmed speculation that the apes in the new film will indeed be riding horses and wielding guns, something that was lacking in the last installment. It’s also assumed that Caesar (played by Andy Serkis) won’t be the only talking ape this time around, as actors such as Judy Greer (The Descendants) and Toby Kabbell (RockNRolla) have taken up roles as fellow apes. The rest of the new cast includes Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Lawless), Gary Oldman (Dark Knight Trilogy), Keri Russell (MI3) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road), it’s possible that Kodi could be playing the son of Jason’s character but there hasn’t been confirmation of that. A trailer should be on it’s way soon as these poster releases tend to go hand-in-hand with some sort of footage from the film, Dawn will hit theatres this summer with a release date of July 7th, 2014.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
