Oh Poor Nicolas Cage, Nobody Saw His Movie

The official Box Office receipts are in for the weekend, and it looks like Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is the first big flop of 2012. The effects laden film landed solidly at number 3 in its debut, behind Denzel Washington’s Safe House and the newest chick-flick, The Vow.

I have to admit, I had pretty high hopes for Ghost Rider. The special effects looked pretty incredible and the action scenes were pretty good, at least when compared to other super hero offerings. But I guess those good action scenes were few and far between in this film. Amidst the maelstrom of bad reviews, a good amount of blame has been tossed towards Cage. As a diehard Cage fan, I can’t help but feel bad for the guy… I might even be forced to make a video in his defense a la “Leave Britney Alone“. Seriously, has no one ever seen Weather Man? That film is in my honest Top 5 favorite list of all time.
