MARVEL STUDIOS Plans 7 Movies for PHASE 3

Marvel Studios’ head honcho (and ginger badass) Kevin Feige revealed his plans for Phase 3 in a recent interview, including the announcement of 7 movies for Phase 3. Compared to the 6 flicks we received in Phase 1, and the 5 we’re promised for Phase 2, Feige’s lofty promise is a bit off putting.

Does this mean even more superhero flicks will be crammed into the typical 3-4 year schedule allotted to each phase, which are typically capped with the release of an Avengers movie? Or perhaps they’re stretching out the time gap; will Phase 3 transform into a 5 year endeavor?

I woulda bet on this too, but it just never happened

I wonder which flicks Marvel Studios will choose to fill that roster. If they’ve already selected 3 or 4 films (I think it’s safe to say they’re sequels to previous movies), then will the other flicks focus on new franchises? Perhaps Marvel will turn their attention towards Marvel Knights, bringing Daredevil, Punisher, and Black Panther to the big screen. Or maybe they’ll allow Ruffalo Hulk to star in his own movie (please not World War Hulk!)? Apparently Namor still belongs to Universal Studios, but I’d allow an Inhumans flick to take its place.

I’d love to see a phase 3 of new characters especially having gritty flicks for the punisher, daredevil, ghostrider, and deadpool. Once the 3 avengers movies are made they need to make the new avengers with ant-man, doc strange, black panther, namor, blackbolt, and maybe include another. Phasing out the big characters currently in the box office won’t hurt the fan base but only increase it.

There are 6 movies in phase one (1) Iron Man (2) Iron Man 2 (3) The Incredible Hulk (4) Thor (5) Captain America: The First Avenger (6) The Avengers.

Phase 2 consists of (1) Iron Man 3 (2) Thor: The Dark World (3) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (4) The Guardians of the Galaxy (5) The Avengers: Age of Ultron. That’s 5.

I fail to see how 6-7 movies for phase 3 would be considered stretching themselves or ‘off-putting’ ….

        Honestly, I don’t give a damn: I never cared for these two characters. Always considered the idea of someone whose power is to shrink to insect size a bit too silly. I know it probably won’t happen but I’d rather see Spider-Man and Wolverine included in the Avengers roster.

        no offense here but can we PLEASE leave wolverine out of this! He is, in my opinion, an over used individual to draw in the crowds. And shrinking wasnt Ant-man and wasp’s only powers. When Ant-man shrunk he kept his normal level of strength those making him super strong in that size PLUS he later became able to grow in size also. As for Wasp yes she could shrink BUT she also had bio-blast that were quite powerful. The point of the avengers was not in their individual powers and abilities BUT in their group dynamics. They were formed to fight off what one person could never handle.

        There can never be too much Wolverine! Though his movie version is toned down compared to the comics, he remains one of the best characters out there, and since you mentioned group dynamics, his love/hate routine with Spidey is great in the Avengers and I love how it reflects on the other team members. I’m well aware of Hank and Janet’s other powers but still, they don’t sit well with me.

Not to be raicest but I want the panther movie And terry Cruz to be Luke cage with tony jaa and iron fist: heros for hire could easily stretch for 3 movies the beginning then they step in a fight and save the avengers… And the third one is where Luke cage becomes the leader of the avengers.

It amazes me to see how many adults are involved in anticipating films that are for children, films that never go beyond general entertainment.

How could you be surprised when watching a comic-book movie when you already know the main character will be alive at the end?

I know comic-book movies create small talk, waste time, and give you all something to do, but try reading a book or engaging in a discussion about politics or philosophy for a change.

I fear that constant involvement in these juvenile movies is weakening your minds because these comic-book movies can never symbolize the social and psychological ideas that real-life fiction has to offer.

My apologies if any of these posts are from individuals who are age 17 and under. For anyone older, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

      That’s where you’re wrong. The best fantasy stories are usually vessels for social/political commentary on the real world. Well OK, maybe not that many superhero books do achieve that but you get my point.

      This name is a reference to the classic Doom videogame from 20 years ago, in which you blast all kinds of monsters from Hell. It’s the name I use in all my online wanderings and I don’t see why I should use another one for a comic book site. I’m just a nerd. I don’t believe in all this religious mumbo-jumbo anyway. Hello troll, if you’re fishing I’ll bite.

Let me pick apart your metaphorical ego stroking.

Do you know what a loaded statement means. It’s a statement that is dripping with opinion. For example

I’ll start out by asking the question, when has any of the comic book characters been directed solely at children? Please educate me on this bit of fact that I might have missed along the way. Story telling has been around since the beginning of mankind. If what you were saying is true in regards to general entertainment, well I’d like to see you produce something outside of a documentary, biography, or autobiography.

Your next statement is dripping with depression.

Do you want to see death? Do you want to have people dying to prove a point? or do you want to have despair instead of hope that things can be good in the end? I don’t know about you but I prefer happy endings to some of the filth directors have created over the last decade.

Your next statement is completely lacking of fact, and is single sided.

Who’s to say that we don’t read non-fiction books, discuss philosophy, and waste time talking about politics (notice how I added that whole waste time aspect in there? Mostly because, unless you’re actually in politics you can do only a little or not a damn thing about it).

Here’s my second favorite holier then thou statement you made.

Do you like cars? Motorcycles? Computers? Sewing? Cooking? Origami? Boating? Football? Or any other activity known to man? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean you have to rip into other people that do. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean everyone else should hate it. Just because you don’t find enjoyment out of it shouldn’t compel you to twist others into disliking it also. The simple answer is this. If you don’t like it do something else. If an older person finds enjoyment out of something that isn’t destructive to themselves or others, why not let them do it. Do you endorse drinking? Smoking? Gambling? Fornicating? Or senseless violence? Maybe. In truth I don’t know you, just as you don’t truly know me, or anyone else that you’re snidely pointing accusations at.

This is my favorite (AKA pathetic) statement of them all.

Ashamed? I’m proud to watch super hero movies. I’m glad to take my friends, family, and anyone that will go with me to a super hero movie. Why? Because I like them. Because they show good verses evil. Because it’s entertaining, and takes my mind off the crap that I have to (and most likely everyone else has to) go through each day. So if anything you need to take a really good look at your last statement.

“And you are not men, but children.”

A child points blame. If you were an adult you would have stated your whole claim in a subjective manner instead of an accusatory one. You would have refrained from demeaning others with every statement you made, and instead had fact to back your statements up. In truth I’m writing this to try and help others in the future from making the same mistakes you made in your post. And please in the future refrain from posting stuff that is clearly a sign that you might need to look into help with depression.

  I agree with the above comment, but would also like to add, when I was 12 I started reading most of the comics Marvel had to offer, and the only film offerings of these characters on film, were a couple of Spiderman and Hulk films, a Dr Strange film and a Captain America film.
  All of which were produced with a low budget, poor acting (apart from Bill Bixby as David Banner) and special effects which were constrained and limited by technology at the time. So when the 1st X-men film came out, I had been waiting to see a good Marvel adapted film for 18 years, the wait was worth it, sometimes you find yourself being an adult, patiently waiting for your child hood imagination of your comic book heroes to come to screen the way you hoped they would.
  
  In a couple of years time with the right director, I would love to see the Secret Wars, but I fear the costs would be to high, as the cast budget alone would be too high with those involved with such a large ensemble cast.

  My advice, read your sentences for clarity before you post them.
  
  Ego is pride and love of oneself, when depression is rage and hatred of oneself turned inward.
  
  You seem angry in your writing, since you were compelled to defend your case with so many words. Perhaps your life is hard with your specific line of why you watch comic-book movies as an adult, which was to “take my mind off the crap that I have.”
  
  Instead of using predictable entertainment to take your mind off of your life, you should face the problems that you have instead of avoiding them temporarily.

  Troll Killer Strikes again! Atta boy Gary Day! Shame that little shit out of here. As I’m 42yo, and still would bite a persons ankle off if it were to speed up the line to go in and Watch a Marvel movie, be it cartoon or real life actors. My kids love Superheroes, mostly due to my fascination with them. I grew up watching Justice League of America. And am quite happy seeing them continue these ‘Escapes from Reality’ type entertainment, for our future kiddy generations! There’s way too much Reality we must deal with each and every day, so why not use Escapism a little, even if it’s just for a short holiday from life. It recharges us, whilst we can appreciate the writing from another fellow humans creative mind!
  As for Trolly, I think you just need to concentrate on Appreciating the fact that they ARE making more movies. Seems you have a little knowledge about what’s in the pipe lines, and I’d guess that pisses you off, as you seem to look like you’re carrying on as if they Ripped you off!
