Mark Ruffalo Nominates Emma Stone For SHE-HULK

Like all the cool celebrities are doing these days, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo recently took part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything). There was a variety of questions thrown his way, from what is favorite dessert is to whether he prefers dragons or dinosaurs…yes, someone really asked him that. However, tone of his more intriguing responses came from a fan cast inquiry. Ruffalo was asked who his top choice would be to play Jennifer Walters, a.k.a. She-Hulk.

Oh wow, that’s pretty crazy. Well I think Zoe Saldana would be a great She Hulk. It’d be nice to see someone like her join the Avengers. Or someone quiet and demure like Emma Stone would be nice. But it would be up to the powers that be.

Obviously Saldana is a no-go since she’s currently occupied as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy. Stone, on the other hand, is a more realistic possibility. She’s an amazing actress, and she’s done with her role as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man series. That might be for the best, considering some said she fell short of expectations…what, too soon?

That being said, I have to disagree with Ruffalo on this choice. First off, Stone doesn’t really resemble Walters at all. Before anyone starts griping at me, I’m not talking about the actual She-Hulk (if someone looks like her in real life, they should probably be checked out by a doctor), I’m talking about Walters in her human form. Of course, comic book movies have taken liberties with character appearances before, so that can be overlooked (although in this case, I hope it’s not). However, there’s another factor: her age.

In the comics, Walters is an accomplished defense attorney. Stone is only 25, and someone at that age would still be in law school right now. Okay, they could bump her age up a couple years, but at best she would just be a lawyer starting out. If they eventually decide to include She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she should be played by someone closer to Ruffalo’s age. It needs to be someone with mileage and experience. This woman has been helping the less fortunate and idealistic attorney. She can’t just be starting out in the legal community.

Who should play her? Well, fan casts have never been my specialty, so I’ll leave it to you all. Let us know in the comments below who you think could play a great She-Hulk.
