Universal Pictures hasn’t exactly clarified whether Jurassic World is a reboot or a sequel. Writer/director Colin Trevorrow has taken to Twitter, to clear things up a bit. His statement gives the impression, that it will land more in the sequel category. Connecting it to Jurassic Park by setting it 22 years after those events. We don’t know for sure what will be going on in the film. Colin has mentioned it would be set on Isla Nublar (Site A) from the first film. The two sequels The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 were set on Isla Sorna (Site B).

Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park.

It’s possible that the film could also take other cues from old Jurassic Park 4 scripts. By turning the park into a SeaWorld-type dinosaur enclosure. Recent rumblings suggest that island is taken out of the hands of InGen. A competing company might be resurrecting the park and we’ll be introduced to it as a successful attraction. Open to the public instead of in test-phase or abandoned.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3, 50/50) is said to be playing a corporate scientist. While young actors Ty Simpkins (Insidious 1-2, Iron Man 3) and Nick Robinson (Kings of Summer) are playing her nephews. Chris Pratt (Guardians of The Galaxy, Five-Year Engagement) will play an ex-military man. Other actors linked include Irrfan Khan (Amazing Spider-Man, Life of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire), Jake Johnson (New Girl), Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore, Scott Pilgrim) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy). The film is set for a release date of June 12th, 2015.
