Jon Chu Set To Direct New MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie

Even though the movie has been in development hell for decades, it seems like Sony really want this movie to get moving. Deadline reports that the studio are in talks with Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2, 3, G. I Joe: Retaliation) for him to helm a Masters of the Universe movie. For those of you who don’t know (well, who doesn’t?) that’s He-Man, the hero of every 80’s kid’s childhood.

The site say that the plot will revole around “He-Man, a prince who transforms into a warrior and becomes the last hope for a magical world that has been ravaged by the sinister Skeletor.” If this is the plot line, I’m getting a very Prince of Persia/Lord of the Rings vibe from this. Jake Gylenhall for He-Man anybody?

We have to wait until March 2013 to see if Chu will do a good job with this, as we all know G.I Joe: Retaliation was pushed back all the way to then when it was supposed to be released last month. What do you think anyway? Sound off below.
