HONEST TRAILERS Poke Holes in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Age of Ultron

The folks over at Screen Junkies are pretty great, and the highlight has gotta be their weekly Honest Trailers which ravage all kinds of movies and TV shows. Their latest effort tackles Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is pretty much the perfect movie for this kind of treatment. Check it out below!

While I certainly enjoyed Age of Ultron upon first viewing, it quickly degraded in my head and I definitely prefer the first movie. That being said, it’s a miracle the sequel is as good as it is. Screen Junkies are right: Joss Whedon had some impossible expectations from both fans and Marvel. Nobody could have lived up to the task he was presented, but with all the moving cogs it really could have been terrible. It was far from that, so Whedon deserves some praise.

Really, let’s just go through everything packed into this movie: HYDRA, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Ultron’s creation, Infinity Stones, catch-up on the heroes, catch-up on their supporting characters, Ultron introduction, Wakanda introduction, the Seoul sequence, Vision’s creation, Hawkeye’s farm, what happened to Nick Fury and a big final battle. And then there’s the set-up for Civil War, Infinity War and everything inbetween, as well as wrapping up Phase II in a satisfying way and creating a coherent storyline with interesting character development that could match the first film.

Jesus.

Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits DVD, Blu-Ray etc on October 2. However, if you live in the UK (like me) then you can head out and buy it now. Admittedly, I completely forgot about buying it until I saw it on sale earlier. Whoops.
