Well this isn’t a surprise. Disney have issued a statement confirming that a sequel to the smash hit superhero team-up of a life time The Avengers is in development, as the movie has been breaking record after record and is on track to cross the Billion dollar mark by Sunday. “The film’s success is a great illustration of why we like Marvel so much,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said.

In other news, Forbes predicts that the movie could have made at least $900m by Friday resulting in a billion dollar gross by Sunday. After making $18.2m yesterday, all it needs to do is make half of that for the rest of the week (making another $100m domestically) and then make $98m internationally. Considering analyst’s predictions were WAY off last time in terms of opening weekend gross (a very good thing), don’t be surprised if it storms past the billion barrier.
