DC’s Lego Batman DVD Film Gets Release Date

DC’s upcoming Lego DVD film has pretty much flown under everyone’s radar. I suppose its because the film uses Lego animation, which admittedly, can look pretty ugly. I suppose I’ll still watch the film, though. But anyways, the film, which is titled Lego Batman: DC Super Heroes Unite, now has a release date: May 21, 2013. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Lego Batman: DC Super Heroes Unite is based off the Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes video game, and the film uses cutscenes from the game, but replaces gameplay with new animation. The voice actors will all be reprising their roles, including Troy Baker as Batman, Travis Willingham as Superman, and Clany Brown as Lex Luthor.

The film’s plot is described as this:

When Bruce Wayne receives the man of the year award, fellow billionaire Lex Luthor becomes jealous and decides to run for President. To create the atmosphere for his type of fear-based politics Lex recruits the Joker to perfect a Black LEGO Destructor Ray which wreaks havoc on Gotham. As Lex destroys Batman’s tech, Batman reluctantly turns to Superman for help.

Well, the film looks to be….different than DC’s usual DTV films. So…will you watch this?
