Check Out This Dark Elf’s Giant, Disgusting Arm Cannon from THOR: THE DARK WORLD

We’ve nabbed a new photo from set of THOR: THE DARK WORLD and this time we’re given a clear look at Malekith’s evil Dark Elf army. Joined by director Alan Taylor, this mindless, golden soldier wields a mighty arm cannon (even Cable’s a tiny bit jealous of that shoulder bound arsenal!).

I’m not one to make childish analogies about phallic limbs, but that arm looks like a penis. You know, one that’s been devastated by interstellar battle, mangled in combat against Asgardian warriors, given the ol’ cosmic reach around by the insatiable Galactus.

Actually, it looks nothing like a trouser snake, but I’ve yet to make a weenie joke in an article today, so I thought I’d give this one a go.

It’s actually pretty terrible, now that I think about it.  Apologies!

But on a more serious note, what’s the significance of that weird shape?  Every space ship in the trailer features the same shape as this gun, so is it a fundamental facet of Dark Elf architecture, or something more significant?
