The Wachowski Brothers (or simply, The Wachowskis, as is their current preference) are adapting Cloud Atlas for the big screen.
The duo, best known for their mind bending collectivist film The Matrix and its subsequent sequels, have been Lazy Larries at the cinema in recent year. They last directed 2009’s Speed Racer, which I thought was a stunning piece of fan service, even though film critics slammed it with negative reviews.
Now, they’ve decided to make a marked return, sans bullet time, unfortunately. They’ve somehow wrangled Atlas‘s film rights from author David Mitchell and recruited the help of an astonishing list of actors: Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, and Hugh Grant.
Luckily, we’ve got our hands on a 6 minute trailer of the film, so we can sit in our quiet man dens and judge with wrinkled brows (and bourbon filled glasses).
I should probably warn you, though, the movie looks pretty damn amazing, so if you’re hoping for a Wachowski s***fest, turn back!
