Showblitz Spy have broken the news that acclaimed actor Ben Kingsley is in “final negotiations” to play the villain in the Shane Black-directed Iron Man 3! It’s been confirmed that he will NOT be playing the Mandarin (which Black previously dismissed as a ‘racist cariacture’), but rather a role that revolved around the spread of a virus through nanobots, and the movie will be based on Extremis (also confirming recent rumors about that). The story doesn’t feature a character that fits the villain’s description, so it will either be a new character or another villain re-designed to fit the Extremis storyline. Expect a lot more details regarding the movie to hit soon, as it is filming in about seven weeks and Marvel always announce details of their next project(s) right after the release of their current one. UPDATE: It seems that Kingsley could be playing Mandarin after all! The Hollywood Reporter report (heh) that Kingsley won’t be the main villain, and that he still could be Mandarin, but will likely be modified to fit the screen. What are your thoughts on this?
