Watch First Clip of BRADLEY COOPER as ROCKET RACCOON

Sweet Fanboy Jesus! Only a few days ago we received the first trailer for James Gunn’s space opera Guardians of the Galaxy and now we’ve got our first behind the scenes footage. Quote a media blitzkrieg, if you ask me.

This 30 second clip features Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon and it marks the very first time we’ll hear that quadrupedal mammal in all of his English fluent glory.

I’m forever flabbergasted at Marvel Studios ability to cast the top talent in their films. I could’ve sworn that Bradley Cooper would’ve been swayed by DC’s superhero cinematic universe, which which is surely offering lead roles for Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and the rest of their A-team to any Hollywood A-lister. With Cooper’s recent success, he tops the list of Tinseltown talent that’s yet to sign onto a major superhero film, but instead of pursuing a classic hero, he decided to portray Rocket Raccoon on the silver screen.

How absolutely insane is that?

Marvel’s pulled a double whammy with this flick, as they’ve also cast Vin Diesel (an action actor who’s even better suited than Cooper for the DC universe) for a similar voice acting role with the interstellar Ent known as Groot. Although, Diesel’s often stated that he’ll portray a live action character on the big screen in the Marvel Universe eventually. Which makes me wonder…. could Bradley Cooper wind up in a live role?

I’d pay good money to see that rising talent portray Doctor Strange in the Phase 3 film. Marvel’s certainly got a short lifespan with its Phase 1 characters. Robert Downey Jr. is almost destined to depart the Iron Man franchise after Avengers 3, although Marvel would be wiser to leave that franchise alone and pursue newer heroes. Both so they don’t oversaturate the marketplace and so they aren’t forced to hire a new actor to compete with RDJ’s legacy. With new talent potentially available for other large roles, like Cooper with Doctor Strange, Marvel could easily snip and stitch new franchises to replace their current ones.

And hopefully Cooper’s the guy for the job!
